Agreed. And I'm all for giving the senior guy the head nod, but how many times is he going to throw the ball away or try and force it into a spot his skill set won't allow. With his experience he should know his release is slow and that he can't fit into a window like on that last play

Bobby Petrino is an offensive genius. Do you think he would have allowed Bolin to walk if he was any good? One more thing this kid Lewis is nothing special.

A week ago I would have disagreed with you. But now? I just don't see him bringing anything to the table that Gio couldn't bring. I do still think it's too early to hand the reigns to Lewis though. I think there are enough promising signs from other areas to not write off this season on a true frosh that hasn't thrown a downfield pass yet.

I don't want Lewis to get his first start against tOSU and I don't think Ash does either. The following game is Illinois (coming off a bye) which seems like a good game to change the starter.

Just throw the most talented players out there and let them call the plays.

Would be more successful than dead arm Bolin and kill's ultra predictable play calls.

Time for Gio to play. He's here next year, can run real well and his passing last year was as good as Bolin. Kyle Bolin is probably a great young man and team mate but there's absolutely no reason to keep him playing when his best attribute is keeping the game close.

I don't see it in Lewis. I'm sorry, I just don't. He seems a step slower than you want a running QB to be and I haven't seen anything to suggest that he's particularly elusive, either. I'm not discounting the possibility that he can develop into a serviceable quarterback, but the early comparisons to Cardale Jones are, IMO, unrealistic.

I hope Lewis can learn to read the defenses and pitch the ball on the option or throw to a receiver covered by a linebacker. So far it doesn't look like he can. I suppose he doesn't get much practicing with the starters so maybe that is what the problem is.
I am not thrilled with Kill's OC prowess. But hell, it is easy to complain and also a waste of energy. The team looks so much better than last year.

You know this how?

It's a message board. I'm offering an opinion based on what I've seen.

Sp, I'll flip it around -- based on Ash's actions thus far including the fact that Gio is currently third on the depth chart with our future QB ahead of him what makes you think that Ash is going to suddenly bench Bolin and play Gio?

I already said that gio and Lewis in tandem makes more sense than bolin and Lewis. Lewis comes in and its oh look and in play. Gio keeps them guessing

Bolin did not lose this game for Rutgers. In my opinion, the reason for the loss was Rutgers inability to stop the run in the second half and their inability to run the ball effectively on offense in the second half. It was obvious the defense was just tired in the second half due to lack of quality depth.

our "latest" OC comes in and anoints his guys (Bolin and Edwards) as the men. He says Gus is an NFL talent. What exactly do either of these guy give us that we didn't already have in Gio and Martin/Hicks? THAT really concerns me.

More QB and RB personnel decisions that make me want to cut my wrists. (don't get me wrong. Gus is decent..but that much better than what we already had?)

Gio can t least frieakin run and add some value there. Gosh darn it!!!!

I like Gio, but I'm not sure he is better than the other QB's. He played 1 real good half against Minnesota. I know he was injured, but it seemed the other teams figured him out as well. I have to trust the coaches since this board has been so wrong on the previous back-up QB's (ex. Rettig).

I hear the same comments about Bolin that we heard about Laviano last year (ex. weak arm). I still think the issue is more with the OC's than the QB's. Ash needs to play the graduate transfers because our depth is lacking. We need to show future grad transfers that they can come here and play. To me that is what Ash is selling until he has his players/depth. That and keeping the scores close to get the recruits.

I fault the players for picking Bolin as a team captain. If team had picked Gio would he be playing over Bolin?

If Gio can't beat out Bolin, he can't be that good. Lewis is more DC Jefferson than Cardale Jones. The team talent is reflective of their record. This is not our year.

I think some people are secretly yearning to play a QB who can win games and we don't have one of those on our roster, right now.

My personal opinion on why Lewis is being held back is because the coaching staff doesn't want to put him out in front of this season and set him up for failure - because that would likely impact recruiting in a very substantial way.

We don't have a QB who can win games without solid talent around him, two levels deep. The rest of the offense has some growing to do. Our run blocking is weak and our receivers are best described as "serviceable".

For this season, Kyle, Jon or Gio, it really doesn't matter. This season has never been about anything more than next season. Next season is probably 4 or 5 wins.
