C'mon people enough of the bullcrap! All you do is complain about RU and then call yourselves alums and fans. You say stupid crap like the B1G is sorry for taking RU and we are a disgrace and a laughing stock. RU is an outstanding university and highly thought of by those who matter. RU was chosen by the B1G for it's academic abilities and research capabilities. You think they didn't know the football team sucked? Trust me the B1G is an academic group of schools. This is not the SEC. The B1G is interested in more then if you are renewing your season tickets or if you like your AD or coaching staff. If you don't like the team fine go watch something else, most of us are. But it is getting a little, old thread after thread, to read crap by the same few dozen, who profess themselves as experts, how they can change the football world. Does our record suck? YES. Does Ash suck? YES more than the record. Was it a crap contract? YES. But be proud of RU and what a strong academic institution it is. If you judge a school by it's athletic programs maybe you are not the best one to be judging schools. Could say plenty more but this will do!

I am very proud of the two degrees I received from Rutgers. Oh, and on another note, the football team is simply awful.

I think there is some truth to the OP's statement. Academics did play some role in our selection for the B1G. But there was a lot else at work, including the hope that having Rutgers would lead to increased penetration of the NYC metropolitan market. And the B1G certainly expected Rutgers to be something other than a doormat; our poor performance pre-Schiano had been a big factor in preventing us from being able to join much earlier.
In any case, I do not like posters calling out long-time fans for being discontent with the way the football program is going. A lot of posters here have put good money into the program in the form of donations and ticket purchases, and they are perfectly entitled to conclude that there are better ways of spending their Saturday afternoons.

Utterly irrelevant. This is not a higher education message board, unless our professors are now called Scarlet Knights. And the Big Ten, believe it or not, is first and foremost an athletic organization. Of course there are other benefits, which, by the way, have been discussed here over and over. But the purpose of it is sports, of which by far the most important is football, which, as you noted, we suck at.
NOBODY HERE IS JUDGING THE SCHOOL BY ITS ATHLETIC PROGRAMS. For someone who clearly thinks he's better than sports fans, you sure are a moron.

I consider most of this to be tame. Matter of fact, you have some posters that are quite humorous when laughing off the misfortune. Why I keep coming back. It beats some schools whose posters carry on about how the world is out to get them. [thumb2]
