It's possible that dems thought some of their own would be implicated. Reps might be thinking the same thing about their side.

That said it seems highly unlikely that the dem DOJ had the goods on Trump but decided not to shift the focus of their campaign.
Potentially- but again, the left didn't really think or talk about the Epstein files during the Biden admin. It was a non story politically other than conspiracy theorists in the corners of the internet clamoring for them, until Trump made it a part of his campaign.

The notion that the only reason the Biden admin didn't release Epstein information because it was an ongoing investigation is only believed by the lowest of low iq people. We are talking Brandon Johnson level low iq.
But the reason the DOJ isn't doing it now is completely on board. Got it.

doesn't that assume though that the files are part of the data base? Like I said I'd like to see the files released if for no other reason than to get this issue behind us. We have enough other things going on
No, theres scanning software out there to do that.
Anyway, why can't the share their progress?

well your last sentence is what I said.....but wouldn't each of the documents have to be scanned?

Look, I'm not defending DoJ..I want the documents released too. I'm just trying to get around the millions of files that need to be reviewed. And, you might be 100% right that it would be quicker to scan the docs and then do a search.

The time to deescalate was long ago but I disagree that ICE has to move out. That would be like saying Minneapolis officials win, that sanctuary cities are legal, that illegal immigrants can roam free, and that ICE/HSI have no authority. That simply can't be allowed.

I agree 100% that there needs to be independent investigations into both killings although I'm not sure how to make them independent. Anything the Feds say will be in defense of their agents and anything state/city officials say would say murder. Both sides have already been guilty of this.

My personal opinion is that both deaths were avoidable. In both situations the deceased put themselves in a bad/risky situation but that doesn't mean they should have been killed.

Dems say Good was simply trying to get out of the way. I think that's BS. She didn't drive away carefully. She went fast into reverse then fast forward. I don't believe she was trying to run over the ICE agent as some on the right claim but I do think she was trying to escape ICE arrest and was reckless doing so. I think the officer could have got out of the way without shooting but I wouldn't want to be in the position of making a split second decision.

Reps say an agent sot Pretti in self defense. I didn't see Pretti going for his gun so I'm skeptical of that claim. But he was definitely resisting and I believe the agent shot out of fear that may have been unwarranted. It was another split second decision. We also don't know what happened in the 10 minutes before the video. As you say there should be an independent investigation.

Trump should have called for a meeting with Minnesota officials weeks ago in an attempt to deescalate. Waltz/Frey should have been more cooperative from the beginning. Too many things are about politics instead of the law and common sense.
Sanctuary cities are in fact legal. I agree with some of the above and disagree with others, like with most people's two opinions. But sanctuary cities are constitutionally legal.

How does a free speech absolutist feel about this?
he said a DATABASE would be launched for leftist insurrectionists stalking and attacking ICE

I don't think stalking and attacking ICE is free speech. The free speech absolutist has no qualms with this.

it's amazing to me that state/local governments would not want to turn over criminals in the country illegally to get them out of their states/cities.

Can someone who supports these policies provide the thought process behind just releasing those folks back in to their communities?
Honestly can't answer this one. I personally wouldn't support it. I don't have any issues with sanctuary cities, but once they are convicted criminals, that is a different story to me.

Filming isn't a crime. They have regularly threatened or taken pictures etc to "add to a database", which ostensibly limits people free speech. Either they are actually guilty of a crime and should be charged, or they are not, and the state getting them fire is limiting free speech. You are either for free speech or not. They are either committing actual crimes, or not. There is no middle ground for that, when it comes to the state.

you know you're using my point about the accusations about trump doing things that are illegal or unconstitutional....either he is guilty of a crime and should be charged, or he is not.

Sanctuary cities are legal because there is no legal definition of a sanctuary city. Sanctuary cities try to cover themselves by providing as little cooperation as possible with federal immigration enforcement without crossing the line into something that's flat out illegal. I don't think that having cities fighting against the federal government is a good thing for the country.

What do you mean it was a non story? Epstein was a big story under Biden. Maxwell lost appeals under Biden. People were still talking about Prince Andrew's involvement when Biden was president.

Are you seriously suggesting that the Biden DOJ had nothing on anybody but Epstein & Maxwell during their 4 years but the Trump DOJ finally found the dirt and covered it up within a month or so of taking charge?

Right, you disagree with it. I get it. But it is legal.

Might want to fact check some of those dates.

I've always been of the opinion there isn't enough in the files to break the threshold for reasonable doubt in the files for other. Just reputationally bury them most likely.

Corrected - Epstein went to jail in 2019.

I agree with your second statement. That's why I don't like further release of any files. First I think it's a huge waste of taxpayer money. Second I think it will be reported that a number of people will be dragged through the mud because they associated with Epstein even if there's no proof that they weren't involved with underage girls.

I hear you. And I wasn't upset that it wasn't a key part of any campaign I supported. But at the same time, I understand people wanting clarity, and at the end of the day, there is an act of congress that needs to be followed at this point.
