PU had 47 minutes and NU had 12. Crazy the game was close.
Well when you have a guy they can’t cover, you won’t have to take too long to move the ball. We scored 37 points in 17 minutes because Palmer was playing chess

Score was way closer than the game. Could have been a 3 or 4 TD difference. Palmer was just sick and Purdue did not play well. They knew they’d steamroll us. Took us for granted and thought it was over several times.

Yeah this us wrong. We always had a chance. Everytime our d got a stop our offense screwed up. When our offense finally helped the D the D would falter. We were always in the game we just never put it together between the two sides of the ball to take control

Yeah we could have won bye 2 to 3 scores
If O’Connelle didn’t play. Wouldn’t have been a game. Seriously going to under sale?

A loss is a loss. There will be many more this year and you will still hear that "Neb is back." The season is over, most will be canned. Move on and see what happens. I'm not optimistic, but who knows? Maybe they will hire someone good. I highly doubt it, though. Maybe 5th times a charm.

I’m sure it was brought up elsewhere, but not calling timeouts at the end of first half when Purdue would inevitably score was giving up on the offense and giving them time to score. Somehow, against all odds, they got a FG out of that final drive.

That may have left 4 points on the field, combined with missing A. Brown in the end zone for another 4 pts.

8 points missed from carelessness.

Wasting 2nd half timeouts early cus they couldn’t get lined up…
Then there was the general lack of finishing tackles (or obviously OL blocking no one).

So for all the stupid mishaps exaggerating the TOP issue, the team still hung til the end.

one of the reasons dr. tom ran the ball, to keep the defense fresh, I think out defense was on the feild for 100+ plays...

but the bright side they did get the back ups some game time reps on d

I have talked about the dangers of pass happy before, so this is not new information

Exactly. If Nebraska was able to get a stop (that didn't result in a FG), I always thought we could tie it or take the lead. I wasn't counting, but I do believe Purdue punted twice. Every other 4th resulted in 3 pts or a missed field goal (1?).

If Thompson was somehow able to get the ball out before our OL completely collapsed, which happened 90% of the time, we were good. If the OL doesn't collapse every god damned time, our running game opens up. Which elevates Grant and Yant, and makes Parker even more of a threat in that game.

I realize I am a rocket scientist, but it's pretty simple and obvious where our problems are: OL (absolutely abysmal), DL (no pass rush at all, and probably due to being on the field the entire game), and probably (600+ yards) just the defense as a whole (same reason as last, and they're just not that good).

If I'm Joseph, I know exactly what to work on, or whom needs to go if not fixed or somewhat repaired in the next two weeks.

Obviously, the defense is partially responsible for the time of possession disparity, but you have to do some things to hide your weaknesses. OL and defense were fully exposed last night. It was roughly 100 snaps vs. 50 and Casey took some huge hits. Also, I'm not sure I have ever seen 38 first downs, that is brutal.

It would help immensely if Whipple would research screen passes, quick passes, and a #$%^&@ misdirection run play. There were 2 run plays that went outside the tackles for the entire game. Palmer for 70 and Grant for 8 when he bounced it himself. Whip is EXTREMELY predictable. Like shooting fish in a barrel. When the defense knows where you are going they can beat you to the spot.

We had to be pass happy because our running game wasn't working.

Yeah, I don't care about who he coached in the NFL or that his last QB was a Heisman finalist or he had dinner 30 years ago with Bill Walsh, or whatever. I care about an OC who can confuse a defense with techniques you mention. Even if they don't work, it slows the defense down. I haven't watched the tape yet, but early on I remember they ran a delayed draw. Nothing too great, four or five yards. But it was four or five yards and helped delay our defense getting back on the field. I noticed they ran play action faking that draw at least once later, but never ran it again. I do think our first running play was a counter of sorts.

We ran multiple draw plays. We ran lots of plays that got receivers wide open. We hit most of them and missed the throws on the 2 INTs and the throw to Alante. Offensive playcalling and Whip were not the problem yesterday and I'm generally not a huge fan of his offense.

That was dictated by how we made them execute long drives and then we had multiple explosive passplays. TOP didn’t mean much other than that our D couldn’t get off the field. We clearly were trying to keep everything in front of our secondary
