Have you ever seen a college team play a box and one? Admitedly, it is a very unconventional D. However, if Graham, the Kansas pg, is stopped, Kansas goes nowhere. Graham was unanimously selected as the Big 12 Player of the Year. He is engine that makes Kansas go, the key to the whole game.

In this morning's Raleigh N&O, Graham, who grew up in Raleigh (and seems like a good kid), was asked in an interview about how he feels about Duke

Graham: " I hate Duke"

interviewer: "Why"

Graham: "I grew up a UNC fan and we hate Duke"

Interviewer: "But why hate Duke?"

Graham: "(Laughing...) UNC fans hate Duke"

Not only is there a tactical reason (mentioned above) for making life a little tougher for Graham , but also he needs a real reason for hating Duke. That is, that he be stymied and the Jayhawks and he sent back to Kansas thoroughly defeated.

Were you calling the plays tomorrow evening ,would you even consider the box and 1?

Well that will make a victory even better. As for the box and 1 they have enough weapons that I would not chance it. I'm sure all five on the court will know where he's at and the zone will be effective. Last night both Duke and Syracuse made some adjustments to the zone during the game.

Box and 1 works if ran correctly but you have to have a couple guys that are strong defensively to guard that 1 guy. Duke is better defensively but we are not a Box and 1 team.

I think our zone alone will take care of mitigating him. He hasn't exactly been burning the nets lately.

I like the idea of a box and one but you don’t try new things for the first time in the elite 8 unless you’re down by 20+. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

Our zone is making people shoot 23-25 foot 3s. That’s why our 3 point defense has been great in the zone. We are making them shoot from distances they aren’t normally shooting and there’s a hand in their face. But I think tonight is a 10+ 3pt night for our shooters. I think we will be hot. Just got the feeling
