No. Hence, why he has been gone for years.

However, he had 10 post season appearances in 14 seasons. Miles, 2 in his first 6. Probably on track for his 3rd in year 7. That probably buys him at least one more year.

Wait do you think Nee being fired had anything to do with his record or how the team played?

Maybe toward the very end. I'm not sure what politics were involved, but another poster pointed out the similarities to his and Miles conference records, which is why I pointed out the postseason success that Nee had, to provide context to their conference record similarities. I can't see Miles achieving 9 consecutive postseason berths, inclusive of 4 consecutive NCAA tourney appearances here.

What? No. Nee is considered by most to be the best coach we've ever had. He was fired for his off court scandal.

If Miles goes .500 in conference this year he will be the winningest coach Nebraska basketball has had in 30 years and likely already has 2 of the top 5 recruiting classes since the 1 and 1 rule was invented.

This is like saying Purdue should fire Brohm if he doesn't win a big ten title within the next 5 years because they built shiny buildings or that Northwestern should dominate the west now because their lakeside house is pretty.

Except we aren't Purdue or Northwestern here, hell we aren't even Rutgers. We're Wake Forest.

How his team was playing from what I remember..
No. Danny couldn't string together a sentence without at least 2 f###s being used but the problem was his...well....lets just say there were some extra benefits for Danny's players. Very colorful and interesting coach no doubt. Good guy I think but really probably not the best fit for Nebraska's culture.

Does this have to do with with Nee's wife?

Lets just say extra benefits are sometimes EXTRA extra.
I've heard a lot of the stories. Didn't realize it was probably the chief factor of his dismissal. I've always had a morbid curiousity of how that all came to be and what she looked like.

The players involved in those rumors were long gone before Nee was ever on the hot seat. In fact, they were part of his best team in 1991. He wasn't canned until after the 2000 season.

Wait. You took the response to that wrong. While that happened it didn't lead to his dismissal. He was here nearly a decade after that.

He had a highly touted recruiting class come in (some would say questionably) with pressure to get over the hump and they struggled. He couldn't handle it and became a clownshow with the media and the AD. He was fired for how he treated people - not to mention a certain letter. Add the fact that he basically dared Byrne to fire him when I don't even know if Byrne was even leaning that way until that point.

It was very Pelini-esque. Almost eerily so.

Good info. I had no idea about those aspects.

So does every team in college basketball not named Duke or Gonzaga. This narrative that Nebraska is bad because of droughts is tiring. This is something EVERY COLLEGE TEAM deals with. Yet I swear we would think this is a flaw of Nebraska's only.

I just look at the two offenses of Nebraska and Creighton and I see a dramatic difference in how Creighton moves the ball around vs Nebraska. Fortunately we have talented players that can create on their own. It's been the same way ever since Miles got here. In '14 it was Petteway and Shields that could create despite Miles' woes as an offensive coach.

I just look at the defenses. We're good at it. They're not.

Creighton is almost always a more complete team than us, and it's because of the coaching. I think McDermott could take our current personnel to 23+ wins. I don't think Miles will.
