And KF got so much grief over hiring him. 
His offense just toyed with a top 15 SEC team that was at full strength. He's proven his worth already. Future is bright
I think Grono completed a 48 yarder against Rutgers so it is getting better. Plus we have such great TEnds and they rumble after the catch
The progress made in just 2 seasons is remarkable.
So nice to have a competent adult in the offensive room again. Still angers me thinking what if we had someone like him instead of Fredo in charge of the offense when we had those elite Ds
Yeah I agree but it has been righted and momentum is on the upswing for KF to have one helleva finish however many seasons he has left.
You need actual talent at the WR position to do that, which he has very little of. Vander Zee is good on contested catches but he isn’t burning anyone for a 50+ yard TD.
Things are definitely getting better and better for the offense...thank God. Lester has really improved things and the future is looking bright
We need a Phillips/Gill type possession receiver to either emerge from our current guys or obtained through the portal, and if Howard can make another step forward, the receiving corps should be competent next season. I could see Stinson coming in and getting PT right away. We’re due to stumble into another Dominique Douglas-type who showed up polished and ready. Without the off-field ****, obviously.
RVZ reminds me of McNutt. Now we need to find a DJK. The TE room looks stacked for the next few years. Hopefully spring and fall practice helps Heck and the offense take another step forward so when the season starts the offense can be rolling from game one.
Anyone remember all the moaning, Groaning, Bitching and Pissing about not getting a top-notch name brand OC?

I was justing mulling that over after the game.
If that’s the succession plan in place for when Ferentz finally retires, and we can assume Lester has learned a lot from Phil and Kirk and continues with what makes Iowa football special (sans the atrocious offenses in the past), I would be all for it.
I can’t believe I am saying this, but assuming Iowa can do well in the portal, with the current assistants Iowa has, Kirk has a chance to finish his long coaching career as good as during his heyday. That is extremely rare.

The players love him, NFL success is unreal, the stability the way Iowa does things. People are taking notice nationally. Stability is huge in this chaotic era.
Very true. I’m very appreciative of what he’s done to turn things around. He works with he has personnel wise and to their strengths.
I feel like he, who was a previous HC, better candidate over Wallace if they ever hired in house to replace KF.

I wasn’t quite in this group. I was cautiously optimistic that a guy with HC experience and history of being a very successful college QB would do well. I could see why people were doubtful that KF could come up with a competent hire, considering that he thought BF was doing great, and TL was essentially out of work at the time.
Yeah, I agree. I am pleasantly surprised, because I have been ready for Kirk to retire for a while now.
There is no denying Kirk has a lot of strengths and has done things the right way for many years. The offense has just been unbearable to watch this decade up until this year. Even winning the Big Ten West twice was not fun for me. Frankly, this year is the most I have enjoyed an Iowa season in a long time.

Why when He retires You promote from on Staff, My vote would be Lester because he has already won as a HC and fixed the Iowa offense , the climbing of Mt Everest of college football
I was OK with most of the play calling today, but that pass on 1st and goal at the 3 in the first half was just really not a good decision. It was basically a guaranteed TD at that stage of the game if you just ground and pound.
I'm looking at the difference in just 2 seasons, 34 pts today damn good. Absolutely we can nit pick many things just overall progress in such a short time was my point.
Can't argue with that. Our offense answered the call today. When you thought momentum could be shifting the offense answered, and consistently. I can't think of the last time that's happened. Usually it's our offense getting bailed out by the D, or special teams. Lester gets high marks today and the last couple seasons for sure. Hopefully we can continue next year.
Need a WR and OL in portal but love the returning pieces.
I just know one thing.. The offense is in much better hands than it was a few years ago than it was under you know who. Hard not to improve on that dumpster fire, but the offense looked solid today
That was a head scratcher, for sure. TL has been a gigantic upgrade from Biff, but he definitely has a tendency to be too cute at times....
He's an improvement for sure, but 1st and goal on the 5, up 7, and we’re empty throwing a quick slant over the middle to a running back who hardly plays, disqualifies him from being called elite.

Lets see what he does next year with a new line and QB before announcing him. Right now all he's done is lose to the clowns, and be head and shoulders better than Brian. He's getting the same love fran got for not being lick.
