I thought Pelini over ruled him on taking Burrow. I thought Bo seemed to hold some grudge against Joe’s dad.
Nope. BO wanted as little to do with recruiting as possible and left a lot of it to his assistants. Beck didn’t think much of Burrow and BO followed his lead. Butrow wound up committing to Ohio State instead.
After the season, BO got fired and somehow Beck became OC/QB coach at Ohio State, Joe’s intended destination.
Joe was definitely unhappy with this turn of events and began to reevaluate his options. Riley DID want him here and went after him big time. It even seemed for a brief moment that we had a chance to flip him here, but then Urban intervened and kept him back in the fold.
And of course we all know about the blockbuster sequel: ‘Joe Burrow wants to go to Nebraska 2: Is he better than what we’ve already got?’

You are only telling half the ridiculousness of the story. Beck offered Kevin Dillman at QB instead of Burrow. In high school The guy was hurt his junior year and then ruled ineligible his senior year after transferring so he had to play junior varsity. Riley and staff then came in and said they were not honoring that offer. Guy ended up at north Texas offered as a tight end and didn’t play a down of football there. Great talent evaluation.
You're conveniently ignoring the cold, hard fact that everything that's gone wrong with this program over the past 25 years was somehow Bo Pelini's fault.
