Honestly, I don't hold Diaco's crap season here against him. It was a no-win situation for him. Changing a defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4 usually takes a few years for successful transition. And he was doing it with players that were not well-suited for a 3-4. And I won't even mention the lack of talent and depth. With assistants who didn't have a lot of experience coaching a 3-4. With Eichorst telling them they didn't have to work out and they should be nice about how they tackle people, etc. And his one assistant who would have been a big help to him died before the season even began. And the players and everyone knew it was a lame duck season after Eichorst got fired. The writing was on the wall so was it surprising the players quit giving a crap down the stretch? Maybe he's not a good coach, but didn't he have the #1 D with Notre Dame? I just have a hard time holding his one season here against him.
