Decent overall record. Thats a long time to be at 1 school in this business. Thats all I know about him from a google search. I'd prefer a bigger name, but I guess...since it's taking this long, either the school didn't start the process early enough or no one wants it.

Would much prefer Marion. Why hire a decent MAC coach? Not much upside there. Think it settles us into consistent mediocrity.

Albin’s Ohio team is on ESPN right now. The announcers said Ohio lost some very good players to the portal this past offseason. They won 10 games last season. If they win today or in their bowl game, it will be 10 wins this season.

Not against Albin but he doesn’t fit the “young” that Moore put in what he was planning to hire.

I agree, that’s my biggest concern. Also, several other schools are supposedly looking at him, including Purdue. He may be hard to get, anyway.

Has he said this after the press release? I don’t recall him ever mentioning “young”.

This is what he had said:

“Our national search for a new head coach begins today and I am confident that we will attract a strong pool of candidates who want to be at The University of Tulsa and who align with our vision for our football program.“

I may have missed it somewhere else though.

We are acting like he was our preferred candidate.

Really we have no idea.
Why would he not be the preferred candidate? Local, built Ohio to be top two of the MAC the last 3 years, and win their first title since 1968. Unless the Milkman all of a sudden is announced, it seems like it could be a ho hum announcement when finally decided.

We are all speculating. As far as I know.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to him but he has a very long and uninspiring resume until 3 years ago. He wouldn't have even gotten the Ohio job unless Stolich resigned unexpectedly. Even with 3 solid years at Ohio, he's not getting hired by a lower tier Big 10 or Big 12 team as coaches with that level of success often do. I don't know but I'm guessing there are some reasons why he's where he is.

Regardless of how he got the job, he has shown he can build a program. He has 4 years of coaching an FBS program and has now won 10 games in the last 3. Before him, Ohio won 10 games 3 times in their history with those being in 2011, 1968, and 1960.

It obviously doesn’t matter at this point but I believe not getting this guy, whether he truly was a candidate or not, is probably going to bite us in the butt down the line.

We shall see.

He did win the NAIA NC while at NWOSU.
If you can do that in Alva, you have some coaching and recruiting abilities.
