Anybody think the 10 million winner take all just takes away from the fun and trash talking of it, and just makes it too serious. I mean they agreed to be miced up. I know some are saying that they should put 1 million each of their own money in to make it more interesting . I actually think that makes it even worse! Too serious! I think it would be better If say it was like Conner and Floyd going back and forth trash talking for months and then fighting . Just a pride thing for the winner. Or (just) a 1 million purse from each of them or something. Defiantly match play . What do y’all think about this match ? They could be working out a deal behind the scenes to split it..hahaha this just smells fake to me.

I don't think they will be working out a deal to split it. I think both have too big of an ego for that. I think the idea of those two going at it is interesting, but it really doesn't mean much or settle anything. It doesn't mean that whoever wins is the better golfer. Whoever wins the first time, may would by more the next week. If they did this 10 times throughout the year. I would bet that it ends up not far from 5-5. I am rooting for Phil though!

No way. I agree that they should put some of their own money in. They both have plenty and Phil loves to gamble. It’s far more interesting to me for them to have some investment. And yes, go FIGJAM.

I’m not saying anybody would know they split it ahahaha. They still have the opportunity of competing, and one winning, then bragging rights, all while both pocketing 5 million..:)...They both get to have fun, and trash talk, and try to win. I could just see them saying let’s just split it, we’re both happy at the end, one gets the bragging rights, were both 5 mill richer, fans are happy. Although I can see the ego part where one/both wants the 10 million and bragging rights!! I just have an issue of not trusting anything. Conspiracies. I don’t know how to explain it. I think to much. I agree with your 5/5 though. Winnning doesn’t really mean a lot. One could have it. One couldn’t. Golf. That’s part of the reason why I have my thoughts about this haha. Match play is a must. Anyway I’m rooting for Phil too. Hoping it’s not wrestling. ;) Who’s paying the 10 million?

Money is no issue for them, its more pride and bragging rights and imo Tiger will own Phil just like he has over the past 20 years. The one reason I have disliked Phil over the years is because he had the talent and game to beat Tiger on the big stage, he just didn't have it mentally and would choke every time Tiger was within sniffing distance of him on Sunday afternoon. Phil should easily have at least 5 to 7 more majors in his career. Some said he gambled when he should have played safe, others said he gambled because he could not handle the pressure of the moment and that forced him to go for it all even if that wasn't the saf

I still think its a toss up who wins. I wouldn't risk any money betting on either of them. Even within the 4 rounds of a given tournament, I bet if you research it, most of the time, neither one of them out scores the other all 4 rounds. The one who loses this match could easily turn around the next day and win by 4....if either of them gets hot with the putter, not much the other can do about it.

I guess it feels a little better, and looks a little better if you gamble and choke, instead of playing it safe and still choking.:) lol

Phil Mickelson reminds me a lot of K. I get extremely frustrated with both, yet both are two of the best ever. Phil could have won a few more majors, and K could have won a few more titles.
Phil is a gambler, and it has worked out for him being super aggressive as well as hurting him in a few US Opens. It's some of why both are as popular as they are. He wows you, then sometimes I want to wrap an 8 iron around his head. Yet he's had a career most only dream about. Over 40 career wins and 5 majors.

Cannot stand either one of em....

A. Tiger's past off course indiscretions, his filthy mouth on course...
B. Mickelson's childish maneuver at the U.S. Open of striking a ball in play, and waiting almost a week before apologizing was attrocious....

They should definitely be putting their own $$$ up, w/all their assets....They're just milking it because its someone else's $$$.

Phil's melt down at the US Open didn't bother me as much as it did a lot of people. It's a frustrating game with a lot of pressure. I don't know how most of them keep their cool as well as they do. Plus, what he did didn't help him, and he wasn't cheating. It penalized him and hurt his score. He shouldn't have done it, and I'm sure he regrets
It, but it wasn't bad enough in my opinion to stop liking or cheering for him. Now with that said, I'm not necessarily a Phil fan. If I named my top 5 favorite, I don't think he is in it......if they seen some of my antics on the course, I would be banned forever!!!
