He is feeling it

He needs to go ahead and pick up another cpl shots before those last four holes.

of course the bad news is with all those yet to tee off, with these conditions someone is going to go LOW. Those 4-5 putts on Thursday that lipped out or just camp up short will probably come back to haunt him.

Would still really like to see Rickey go low but these glimpses of the old(young) Tiger are so tantalizing.

Tiger was never a Come From Behind golfer like Arnold Palmer or even.....

..Jack Nicklaus. His MO was always get way ahead, crush opposition, see them driven before him, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

He's 42. He's not winning again until he reaches the Senior Circuit.

Doubt you will ever see him on the senior circuit. His ego would not allow it.

Hahaha yeah he’s not lifting any trophies tomorrow. He’ll never win another major. He’s been a head case ever since his wife divorced him. I do love Tiger fans getting excited just to be let down again though.

There have been 10+ guys who have won majors while older than Woods is now, not to mention Tom Watson who was a stroke away from winning one before losing in a playoff at freaking 59 years old. That list will also grow substantially. Golf, like many other sports, is seeing guys play at a high level for longer than ever to to advances in training, diet, surgery / therapy, etc.

Shifting the conversation back to Woods, the dude wasn’t even playing golf a year ago and is now in the Top 6 heading into Sunday at a major. That’s fairly ridiculous if you even keep up with the sport at all. If he stays healthy (a big if), he still has 4 or 5 years of high level golf, at a minimum. He still may never get back to the mountaintop, but I wouldn’t bet my life savings that he doesn’t.

I'll be interested to see if the young guys can keep their composure tomorrow. Tiger was so good back in the day he intimidated a lot of the "star" players of that era so badly they would come all pieces in the final round if he was in the hunt. Is the aura still there ?

Started the year in the 680 range in the world golf rankings. He is now in the top 75. You don’t do that and not have the game. Is he gonna win all the time like he used to? Probably not. But could he win again? Yup. Could he win another major? Yup.

I don't see the younger ones being intimidated by him. The fans in their zest in pulling for Tiger could bother the others, but crowds over there seem to be better behaved than here.

I hope you're right. I always thought a big part of Tiger's success was a lack of tough competition in his hayday.

I was gone all day so am just now watching Tiger finish the 18th on my recording. That tee shot was scary and he was very fortunate. And the bogey on the Par 3 was a bit of an error on his part. Otherwise, he played the best I've seen him play in quite some time today. He'll be a contender tomorrow and I wouldn't be surprised if he wins.

Anyone with a brain can see that Tiger is leaps and bounds from where he was a year or 2 ago. He's not catching Jack but he'll win another major. The way he's ball striking and putting it may very well be this weekend. He's just now getting to where he trusts his body to hit any shot he needs. He could easily be sitting at -10 right now. I'm a golf fan so I'll watch the majors and several other tournaments, but the reason I root for Tiger is that I root for interesting.

His competitors love his fans getting excited as well. Brings a lot more attention - and money - to the game.

He is one of the all-time greats when it comes to generating interest for his sport.

I wouldn't be surprised if even par isn't enough to win it today for Tiger and he's the only player on the course in red figures. He has that "look" today.

If there was ever a question about how sound his back is these days he just answered it with the shot at 10 out of the pot bunker.

Not any more. He's now got a 1 stroke lead, and might get a birdie on that shot out of the bunker. He's going to win.

It’s going to be the highest ratings for a golf tournament in a while.

It's so funny how golf evens things out

Tiger had no business getting on the green out of the bunker on 10 and then on 11 if that flop shot carries one more foot he pars 11

Yep. He almost immediately double bogeys.

1 back now, and McIlroy just eagled to share the lead with about 4 or 5 others.

Tiger's not hitting many fairways today, and he was leading the pack in fairways hit. Not many others are either.

Yeah he’s really got that “look” now. Hahaha choking it up on 11 and 12. The Sunday Red doesn’t matter anymore. It’s not 2006.

Rory is in prime position after that eagle. If he could post a -6 as the rest of the field nears those last 4 holes he'd put a ton of pressure on those still out

Watson should have won that playoff too, or at least had it continue. He blew a fairly easy short putt/chip past the hole and missed the comeback. Nerves.

when he was leading. He’s been in this all day. Of course it’s not 2006 but he’s competing with the young studs. As a guy his age I’m happy to see it.
