Ticket Transfer Fees

Did y'all realize that there is now a $5.00 charge to transfer tickets to another person? I just transferred some tickets for tomorrow's game to make sure the seats were used and saw that. It used to be free.

Charging $5 to people trying to keep seats full cannot be helping attendance. Sure, you can charge it to the person collecting the tickets, but it is still a small amount of money that probably does not add anything significant to the athletic budget yet discourages ticket transferring.

Disappointing

ETA: I searched and found people talking about this buried in other threads, but this needs to be brought more attention. We are begging for butts in the seats but adding annoying fees that discourage ticket transferring. On top of it, the person going to the game is going to spend more than $5 for food and drinks.

The process is automated without any manpower, and they likely generate more money in food and drink sales than the fee, so yes, I believe it should be free. All you are truly doing is reprinting a ticket.

Plus, it has been free for years.

I remember it being $2 to transfer tickets for the baseball regional in 2013, but that was the last time I used the transfer service. I agree if you're begging people to attend don't nickel and dime them.

Slight thread hijack, ticket fees are out of control. I was going to buy 3 tickets to an NBA game on stubhub, and the ticket fee was $25 per ticket. There has always been a processing fee but it was a one time charge not per ticket. It's ridiculous.

We need a "msu only" resell market

If Joe Blow has tickets to the basketball game he can't use tomorrow he should be able to post them for whatever price he wants and split the sell of the tickets with MSU. Joe Blow gets half the money, MSU gets half the money.

It seems so damned easy. Joe Blow get a little pocket change, MSU gets to sell the same seat twice and the hump gets sold out.

This would work wonders for baseball, basketball probably football too.

Stubhubs fees (and ticketmasters) are why I hardly go to Grizz games anymore.

Use the "Reissue Tickets" option instead of the transfer option. It will void your original hard copy tickets and email you a PDF of the tickets with a new barcode. There is no charge. Save the PDF to your computer and then email the PDF as an attachment to whomever you wish. I have done this frequently to send tickets to a client or friend or reprint when I have left my tickets at home. I did it last night to send my basketball tickets to my nephew. It didn't cost a dime.

Everyone knows about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor; the headlines were everywhere! However, I read this board every day and also searched on this subject, but this did not appear to have ever received a topic of its own.

Transferring to friends is what all of us are trying to do.

Luckily, as mentioned in another place in this thread, we can just reissue the tickets to ourselves and email the PDF of the reissued tickets for free (until they start nickle and dimeing for that too). So, we accomplish the same thing, which is great, but that just shows how silly the new charge is anyway.

Absolutely yes if the MSU administration is interested in supporting the program by making sure butts are in the seats. I mean you are going to charge a guy for his tickets which he has paid for and then you are going to charge him again when he can't go but would like to see that his tickets are used by someone that can go?

I think it's likely the $5 goes to the software provider.

Nothing is free. Though the re-issue ticket workaround is awesome and somewhat hilarious.
