It will be off and on light rain and a bit of drizzle. There won't be a lightning risk. It might be the coolest temperature for a season opener in Husker history though.

On a side note, I have to laugh at the comments from South Alabama Coach Campbell at his conference media days.

"We have a great opportunity to go play them in a full stadium, on National TV, in the hottest part of the day."

I doubt those guys will be prepared for wet conditions and temps in the 60s during warm ups.

Kind of reminds me of Tom Osborne coaching debut against UCLA back in 1973 a similar overcast cool day..

Coldest home opener was 1986 against Florida State at night-- temps were in the 50's. Cloudy and windy. Keith Jackson called the game and I think he called the weather "downright wintry". Steve Taylor went crazy that game. Crowd was nuts all night.

True, don’t care about rain. Just wondered if lightning was in the forecast?
I don't think it will be stormy. We're not going to be warm enough to kick that up. But we've had our share of early morning lightning events this year. Glad it's an 11:00 game
