Throwing ball into stands question

The ball slipped out of his hand. He meant to try a long three. 
Our QB's throw the ball into the stands all the time with no flag.
We're sometimes better hitting the fans because they are always open. Not so much our receivers. Another decision for coach Kill.
He could easily have been trying to throw it high in the air before stepping out to be sure time would expire. Seriously. You see attempts to save balls go all sorts of ways in bball.
It is a technical and I thought about that but after watching the replays the buzzer hit 0 and the game was over before then all may have even crossed the "out of bounds" line
Luckily, Tim Higgins was officiating the game, and he left the court just before the buzzer sounded.

Good stuff. We're just lucky that Illinois is a red-headed bastard child of the Big Ten just like us.
Higgins would have made sure that this was a 4 shot foul ....or until the Illini had 1 more point than RU.
Then the game would have been over- with no blood on his hands.

Bring an inflation pin to the football game. 10 seconds and you can fold it up and put it in your pocket. Or a knife...
