Three seed looks very strong at this point

With Indiana losing early to Michigan, Maryland losing to Mich St and Utah getting hammered last night...I think two 3 seeds are open for UK now. For sure if UK beats Texas AM, it has to be a lock for UK to get a 3 seed. It may not even matter if UK loses...both UK and AM may get 3 seeds.

If they don't consider the SEC championship game then it won't matter if we win or lose, our fate is already sealed one way or the other.

I hope we would be considered for a 3 seed, but the last several years winning in the SEC tournament has not helped our seed. I'm sure losing a game would hurt it, not sure I understand that but it seems like it's that way for Kentucky.

SEC just needs to start the tournament a day early. They won't lose revenue by missing a weekend day, because UK fans will show up on Thursday just as much as they would on Sunday.

It's stupid to be playing these games on Sunday, especially when it's been made clear that the committee already makes up their mind by the time Sunday rolls around.

I think the one thing that keeps it on Sun is the tv ads are paying big $ because the SEC and Big Ten title gms are the only gms in town on Sun.

Agreed; however, if these SEC moguls aren't satisfied enough with the limitless cash SEC football provides and need to justify screwing over UK basketball in order to gain one more day of TV revenue, then we truly do have some greedy bastards running the ship.

I think the NCAA has a 3 seed and 4 seed with UK and A&M. Winner gets 3 loser gets 4. Brackets are set just filling in winner versus loser.

Too bad UK can't see which one is which and who they'd be playing. Might be worth losing if it meant we'd get an Oregon/Nova 1/2 seed.

Miami has a lock on one of those 3 seeds. They have our resume plus wins over Virginia and Utah.

And i think Utah does too. Just losing to Oregon is not going to drop them off when they have eleven top 51 wins.

Good news is I don't think Purdue has one of those seeds yet. And I don't think their game today is going to get counted.

I think it's up for Kentucky, Texas am, Indiana, Purdue, and Seton Hall. My prediction is uk, atm winner gets it.

I would love to think UK is a lock for a 3 seed if they win, but I have my doubts even if they win today. I think Utah is pretty close to a lock for a 3 seed, which means there's one spot open. I think it comes down to UK, Texas A&M, and Miami. Any one of those teams could make a case for the last 3 seed. I hope the committee chooses UK, but I'm thinking UK will likely get a 4 seed.

Utah loses by 30 points to Oregon last night and has a weaker SOS than UK....I don't see Utah ahead of UK if we win SEC T

SOS is different depending on where you look, but I've seen Utah ranked higher than UK regarding SOS in almost every website - RPI, Kenpom, BPI. Also, Utah is 11-6 versus RPI top 50 teams, while UK is 2-2.

Listen, I think UK absolutely deserves a 3 seed, especially now that they've won the SEC tournament, but other teams have a legit case as well. I also think the committee puts less emphasis on conference tournament championship games. They lost to a potential 1 seed, and it was their 3rd game in 3 days. I don't know how deep Utah is, but that could make a difference. I would put UK higher, but I'm not making the decisions. I just wouldn't be surprised if UK is a 4 seed, that's all.

You could be 100% dead on...and even if we keep Utah ahead of UK...there are two #3 seeds wide open in my opening post. I won't be surprised if UK gets a BS #4 seed...but to tell me the best SEC team can't get a better seed than 3 ACC teams, 3 Big 12 and 2 Big East teams and 2 Pac 10 teams...I call total BS on that

I agree 100%, but the SEC is likely only going to get 2 teams in. I think UK could get dinged for that, even though I think the conference is better than 2 tournament teams. It should be an interesting selection show in a few hours.

Plus, it forces Selection Sunday to wait - until the evening, thus helping the hype machine.

Six of Utah's eight losses were by an average of almost 19 points per game. All six "blowout" losses were to NCAA tourney teams though.

Well, it's the NCAA we're talking about, so expect us to land in a region with Kansas/UNC as our 1 seed, Oklahoma as a 2, and a potential second game match up against Duke/Indiana. Wouldn't completely shock me to see them still give Duke the same seed as UK, despite the 10 losses and early ACC Tournament loss, because, y'know, NCAA.

I fully expect to get screwed and placed as a 4 seed in the toughest region. So I'll be happy with anything better than that.

I have it in my head that we get a 4. I think it would be crap but that's what I am going with.

Get a 3 and I am thrilled.

Win vs. UT and Auburn and we would have been a 2....damn

I don't think you can give the SEC regular season and tourney champs a 4

See the 2010-2011 UK season, where we were playing our best basketball of the season, won the SEC tournament, blowing out a Florida team in the finals who would go on to be given a 2 seed.

I think we will be a 3 in the West.

I think Miami gets the South as a 3.

I think WVU is the 3 in the East and Utah gets the 3 and gets moved to the Midwest with Kansas.

I think the Midwest 1-2-3 will be Kansas-Xavier- Utah. A Duke bracket for the Jayhawks.

This . After that seeding I learned to expect the worst from the committee.

I would love to be a 3 and have Oklahoma as the 2. They're a perimeter oriented team with little inside game. That matches up well with UK. Plus, it would really fun to see UK's backcourt against their's.

And if we get the 3, none of those 2 seeds scare me.

Oklahoma will be tough because Hield can go for 40. And Virginia plays unbelievable defense. But they don't scare me.
