The volume of whining about noon starts is reaching epic proportions here, yet again.

Some people just love to *****. They also love trying to justify the reasons for their bitching.

Here's a clue. Most of us don't give a phuk if junior plays pee wee soccer on Saturday mornings on RU game days. Believe it. We really don't.

John O ... This guy should not be a moderator.

Truly amazing that the gold standard of Rutgers message boards would hand this loose cannon the keys to the car. In 15 years here, I've seen a lot of crazy stuff but never anything like where a moderator has come unhinged multiple times like that individual has.

homecoming has been virtually obsolete the last two years at RU...sure the noon starts suck the whole life out of it but RU virtually does nothing..the amount of tables and area set aside for homecoming are getting less and less and just blend in with anything else they are doing in athletes glen. Homecoming is supposed to be a special event but it seems like in the last 5 years its has just become another day and whoever is in charge of the homecoming committee needs to be put in mothballs and retired.

Yes Whitebus, once again we are on the same side but you think we are arguing. That is why I can only see your posts when I'm not logged in.

This is pretty much true. However, back when we had many things to do on HC we were not selling out and parking spaces were not as much at a premium. Having said that the Yellow lot was pretty much empty all year last year so they can definitely do something over there for HC.

The flip side on the noon start for HC means less belligerent drunks (I have been there) and hopefully less people skipping the game completely after drinking for 6 hours. A late arriving crowd is better than a non arriving crowd. My ideal game time is 3:30 PM but it's not make or break.

I still use my '08 drawstring bag from homecoming. One of the best promotional ideas since the Block R. When RU had no money they still gave out Homecoming buttons. Now sadly it really is just another day. It would be nice to retain some tradition. Homecoming in November was frankly ridiculous.

I do miss the giveaways like that. Do they still make the Homecoming buttons? Another thing I haven't noticed for a long time (and they may still do it) is selling t-shirts designed for that year's homecoming.

Why is Howard a Must noon game??? It is often 85 degrees at noon at that time of the year!!!! That should be a night game! Great temps then.

IMHO it's NOT that Homecoming has changed, it's that EVERY game is now an "event" - as it should be and I've been saying since I worked for K-Mac - and Homecoming just SEEMS less "special."

I'll take noon games over 8pm games anytime. With noon starts you get two tailgate sandwiched around a football game and you can still get home at a reasonable hour to watch even more football. Getting home at 2am doesn't excite me at all.

As somebody who championed that idea for quite sometime I have to say while the game day experience has changed for the better (in a HUGE way) the "event" thing has tempered as we have adjusted to being a B1G school. Michigan, PSU and OSU and the first time Wisky and Nebraska came here are looked on as events. The rest of the B1G skeds, well those depend on how that particular team is doing that season to qualify as such.

That being said Homecoming at a 250 year old school should ALWAYS be considered an event regardless of the opponent or game time, and I am confident that will feeling will return soon. Maybe not this year, but soon.

B1G Thursday night games are never gonna happen. The caveat is an away game to start the season but then that isn't really a B1G game. Most B1G (and SEC) schools view all home games, but especially homecoming, as weekend long events and not something you squeeze in. For tailgating noon games are the worst, < 5 hours is barely enough time to set up. But I'm also not skipping a game b/c it's a nooner or any other time slot.

It's 8 (7 fall, 1 spring) out of 52 weekends per year. You either make the choice to go to the game or an excuse why you can't. It's as simple as that. And yes sometimes that choice is little Jenny is gonna miss her soccer game that week.

I don't have his email but someone should email John and have his moderator priceless revoked.

Let it go Chip. He made a stupid comment. The guy he made it to and you have made stupid comments. I have made some as well. Let it go.

Yeah, but only one of the people you mention is a moderator. No doubt I've gotten into a number of dust-ups over the years, but I've never made any comments as remotely nasty, personal and tasteless as that individual has. He's a total loose cannon.

Most of these problems would be solved if we returned to Prohibition, banned soccer, and put a dome on the stadium.
