My thoughts? Fear mongering as usual.
Did that one star Turbo?Yep, keeping the populace alarmed is good for the Gov't and media. Sounds like Cold War Two Electric Boogaloo.
EMP has been known about since the first nuclear detonation. It’s part of every nuclear armed nation’s contingency plans, the true doomsday weapon. The world ends not with a bang but a whimper as civilization crumbles. We in the rural areas are only about 80 years past a society without electricity. With our grain stores and given time we might be able to maintain a semblance of civilization. I’m afraid it would only be a short time before we would be overwhelmed by the survivors of the urban areas.
Have we recruited North Korea before? Gotta be some hungry talent over there.
Believe it or not but most vehicles are pretty decently protected against EMP by nature of a metal body, a test was done not too long ago, in some vehicles that were running during an emp they had to be restarted but nothing that 100% shut them down forever paraphrasing for the most part, but emp shielding is rather simple not complex at all, power grid would be the biggest worry as it could cause overload at relay stations and what have ya, but thanks to things like CME's and modern technology steps have been (slowly) taken to be able to combat or at least get things back on after the event.I would get rich charging $1000 a trip to drive people around in my Oldsmobile since it would not be affected by EMP. My 1993 Harley unfortunately has an electronic ignition. Maybe I should convert it over to points in anticipation of the catastrophe.
An EMP strike is a real possibility you can take steps to keep yourself from being a complete victim, build a faraday cage.
Turn North korea into a parking lot so they don't interrupt football season
You know what, Stan, if you want me to wear 37 pieces of flair, like your pretty boy over there, Brian, why don't you just make the minimum 37 pieces of flair?
Read the book One Second After.
One second after. Read it.
After spending a couple of days this past week in one of our larger cities man it's good to back in the stix. The EMP threat is real and would be devastating. I don't think we have to worry about N Korea doing it nearly as much as we do China or Russia. A friend of mine is an electronics genius and he has a couple of ham radios and a stockpile of tube parts. He says an EMP attack would cripple us as a nation for months if not years. It would completely cripple our ability to communicate by phone or the internet and many if not all of our food delivery systems would be shut down. Think about all the power, refrigeration, inventory, and transportation systems that depend on remotely controlled digital electronics. It is a great reason to own lots of guns and ammo. Water and food riots would be nearly immediate. It sounds ludicrous, but EMP warfare is almost scarier than a nuclear weapon in that it would turn us on each other to try to secure food for our families. Scary deal.Every person living in the Sandhills would suddenly look like the smartest people in America.

I don't think anyone is going to push the button, the US can unload enough nukes to end the world 6 times over in north korea alone. After spending a couple of days this past week in one of our larger cities man it's good to back in the stix. Keep the family Suburban gassed up at all times and you'll make it. Keep a water purifier, small propane stove, and lots of dehydrated backpack meals on hand and you'll do fine. Toilet paper is always good to have too.
Supposedly we've already used EMP weapons on a small scale in the middle east so don't be so sure they couldn't be used tactically against us. The idea that our military is "hardened" against such an attack is laughable. We can't even protect our naval fleet or aircraft from hackers.I don't think anyone is going to push the button, the US can unload enough nukes to end the world 6 times over in north korea alone.
