Thoughts on Cory Bolds?

It seems like he’d commit if we offered but it seems like he flamed out at PSU. I don’t know what he did in JUCO last year but if he doesn’t have character issues, he has to be a take, no?

No. He was begging for an RU offer and got it. He committed just before before LOI day flipped to PSU immediately after PSU offered. The thing is that Franklin just offered him to F with RU. They did not get whom they wanted so they offered Bolds just to pull him away from RU. They really did not want him. Bolds was big timing RU and not showing any interest until it got late in the recruiting cycle. He would have flipped to any other P5 team if he had a commitable offer from them. I don't think that RU should bail him out again after what he pulled on LOI day 2 yeats ago.

I wasn't impressed with his high school performance so I am not surprised he flamed out at PSU. However If he has no character issues I would take a chance on
him because he is a big body and RU needs big bodies particularly on the Dline.

Big bodies are a dime a dozen. Big bodies that can play with the right forward lean and suddenness to be competent DLinemen are rare

Did i miss something?

When did we become an elite program where we get to decide who we get?

If the coaches feel like hes a P5 recruit, we should offer. We need all the help we can get.

He has a reason for every decision he made - don't know if that's good or not. It seems CA knows the kid really well, so you gotta trust him to make the smart move.

Gotta trust CA “to make the smart move”?

He is a cancer I'll leave it at that. This is where we're at now though because Hobbs signed a 7 year guaranteed contract with a guy who can't sell Rutgers and we're stuck in positions like this because we didn't want to fire him. Sucks ***.

That makes perfectly good sense...cut off your nose to spite your face. I hope the decision makers don't use that same immature logic. If he can help and is a good fit you take him.

Sorry to say - but Bolds is not a good prospect. He'll never make it in P5 or at a G5 program.

People say he was lazy and didn't want to work hard? That was a sign of his ability. Very slow off the snap. No twitch. He appeared lazy.

We wish.
Given Coach Ash’s previous employment, you’d think at the very least that we should be landing some of the Big Uglies that end up at Toledo, Akron, Ohio University, Miami of Ohio, Bowling Green, and Kent State.

Is that based on any recent tape? Is there tape on him at ASA? This may be a reason he does not have an RU offer at this point. Maybe RU saw same thing.

Barring some major issue he should be a take for RU

1) Beggars can’t be choosers
2) maybe it works out. Plenty of SEC and Big 12 schools do well with bounce back JUCO’s. Miss St has four JUCO commits right now. With the right coach and support group it can work out.
3) Bolds and Singleton still are names in NJ HS Football. Roster spots for them could influence others to want to be a part of the team.
4) Beggars can’t be choosers

Then all we’d hear is board complaints that he can only recruit MAC players. Btw the Butler Grad Transfer OL they offered has received offers from Miami, Missouri, and Oklahoma in the past week. Not too shabby.

We have 12 Dlinemen returning from the 2018 roster.....

Julius Turner
Jaohne Duggan
Manny Taylor
Brendan Bordner
Will Previllon
Matt Thomas

Elorm Lumor
TiJuan Mason
Mike Tverdov
Jamree Kromah
CJ Onyechi (?)
Robin Jutwreten

We don't have a ton of space. Three more would be the max.

We have Burby verballed... and we may have space for 2 more players... and we cannot panic and reach for the very first kid that has interest. We are looking at a few with some talent.

Hozey Haji-Badri from ASA looks terrific... but ASA doesn't have very strong academics- could hurt

Tank Booker from Ohio

The Darkwa kid from Germany

We just offered Darius Tisdale - DT/DE from Lackawanna JC - 6'5 295 - somewhat a Previllon clone with maybe a little more speed.

These are others that are superior to Corey Bolds

How many will stay on next years roster and how many does RU want to stay on the roster?. The Dline minus Teverdov under performed ,there was little to no pass pressure..

He's on a team with an OL coach who knows what he's doing .
