Thoughts from Gebbia's dad

Winning the BIG not the same as winning the division. I do not think it would be unrealistic to compete for / win our division in 3 years. I would think differently if we were in the East.

Agreed. If a new coach makes us better doesn't mean that OSU, PSU, Michigan will get worse.

I didn't see anything controversial in what Gebbia's dad said. I would expect as many much when there is a good relationship between coaches, players, and their families.

The comments from the 7 on 7 guy were shady as hell and had been suggested, should be a big red flag if NU is mixed up with them.

My other thought - which is just my opinion from reading between the lines - is that maybe a few players on the team are only there because they have a good relationship with the coaches and don't necessarily understand that losing to NIU and giving up TDs on 11 straight possessions is not 'normal' for a program like Nebraska.

Why does a 7 on 7 club dictate where HS kids go to college?

A large number of these kids come from relatively poor backgrounds and single family homes. This is a way for theme to get out of their situations and provide a better life for their families. These guys are some of the most influential people in the players lives.

I agree it is very similar to AAU coaches, but I disagree that they are not already influencing and controlling where these kids go to school. These guys are talking to college coaches and acting as agents for the family. If they don’t get a good feeling about the staff, they will convince the player it isn’t a good fit.

You realize that most players that come from out of state aren’t “fans” of the program. They aren’t concerned with what we consider to be “normal”. But in all reality, to a 18-20 year old kid, Nebraska being an average team is their “normal”.

Everybody stop!!!. We can no longer write about our unhappiness with the Huskers. Only praise for Riley and his staff. When blow-outs occur we need to just smile and be happy. There is no way we can go against a self-serving parent who is worried about the future of his son. Making sure Gebbia is happy is paramount to everything else.

Hey dad, if your son is as good as you think he is then a coaching staff that wins is in his best interest. This staff has shown no ability to win games. I understand it, because every dad thinks their kids is the best, but I have also grown tired of Tanner Lee's dad as well. These dads are only around for a short time. The Huskers need to look long term.

Whatever gets the studs to Nebraska. Just don't get caught.

They don't, yet. But those money grubbing ******** (I wish I would have started it first) are trying to become like AAU coaches.
Exactly. If people read that quote from the group organizer and don’t get nervous you’re closing your eyes. Commanding where we will send kids is disgusting. How about sending kids (they aren’t yours) to the program that makes the most sense for each one.

This statement reeks of money grabbing.

I'm not surprised you missed the point.
You realize that was sarcasm. I could care less what some dad thinks. Sending Riley back home to Oregon is not going to hurt the Huskers' recruiting in California. Nebraska recruited when I went there in the seventies and they will continue to recruit in California with or without Riley.

No, he would just have to beat the West, which would require far less than a miracle worker.
Winning the B1G would mean you are probably as good as anyone in the nation. Winning the west probably means you are a Top 15-20 type team.

Why does a 7 on 7 club dictate where HS kids go to college?
The 7 on 7 "Director of Recruitment" (who the heck carries that kind of title for high school, middle school kids, and grade school students?) doesn't dictate which college but seems to dictate which coach. According to this guy, Williams/Riley are good but, man, get Leach to Nebraska and he would pay even bett...I mean Leach would do a better job in molding this young person into a great human being.

This guy better look out for guys in navy blue suits, sunglasses, and skinny ties hanging around his practices. And as basketball coaches found out, these guys in suits ain't some spaghetti-backed NCAA employees but Feds with real power.

Riley has coached future pro qb's. Mannion went pro after a losing OrSU season. If the Gebbias only care about a possible pro spot, then team results don't really matter. Add that TLee looked bad and the staff stuck with him.

So if I was a Gebbia, I could see Tristan as the heir apparent after TLee leaves. The lone Riley QB that will get nearly all the snaps from anointed starter until leaving the program. Independent of how well or poorly he performs, he would be the guy being prepped for the pros.

Unfortunately for Gebbia, more people care about NU's record than about a qb's pro stock.

That's why I said we would "be" in the B1G championship game in 3 years. Winning it would be a different animal. Gotta shoot for getting there first, and we're a long way from doing that right now.

It would be a huge mistake and would indeed set the program back to fire Riley.

Just look at Alabama with Shula and now since they fired Shula. I personally don’t see Alabama coming back from that mistake.

Oklahoma made a similar mistake letting John Blake go.

Florida Gators followed the mistake trend and actually fired a top recruiter for some unknown from Utah! Couldn’t even tell you that coaches name because he faded into obscurity so fast.

"That's Gold, Jerry, Gold!!"

This is so spot on it's not even funny. If a very good head coach is hired, we will be winning 9 games again in our 2nd season, and will be in the B1G championship game 3 years (at most) into the regime.
Are you bettting or just talking???????????????????????????????????

Winning the B1G would mean beating the East champ
Well two years ago we did beat the the East champ who also happened to be the Big Ten Champion as well. If you can win the West, you don't necessarily have to be the best team, you just need to be the best team "that day" to win the Big Ten.

Sorry, I missed the "be in" part
