The video mentions worship of Molech. Molech was a god of the Moabites adopted by the surrounding nations. Archaeology suggests the most prolific worshipers of Molech we’re actually the Jews in the era of the divided kingdom. Molech was an idol made of bronze which was actually a furnace. The upright idol was shaped with its elbows at its side, forearms stretched forward and parallel with level ground, and palms up. The priests of Molech would stoke a fire in the furnace idol until the hands of Molech glowed red. Then they would lay children on the hands of Molech and worship Molech as the children burned to death.
The Jews placed the shrine to Molech on the south side of Jerusalem in the Hinnom Valley. The Old Testament prophets decried this practice which was found revolting even to many of the Mesopotamian kingdoms. This practice among other reasons, the prophets state, is why Israel and Judah were sent into exile into Assyria and Babylon of Mesopotamia. When the exiles and the children of the exiles returned, they were so disgusted by what took place in the Hinnom Valley, they made it into the trash heap of Jerusalem. In the New Testament this trash heap is called Gehenna. Jesus used Gehenna as synonymous with Hades or Hell. People with leprosy and the extremely poor lived in Gehenna. It was a place of great suffering. Fires to consume the refuge were constantly burning. As Jesus said, it was a place of “weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
