Thorson not on field for warmups?

Just saw it tweeted that he wasn't on the field for warmups. Is this to be expected? I saw comments about not knowing until 2 minutes before kickoff, but this seems suboptimal to me. How can you properly warmup?

Thorson is on the field, in pads, leading team in warmups. Will he play? Don't know. He is out on the field, however.
