Whatever chemistry we develop would be hurt by having him come in mid year.Kids got a ton of talent but its raw.He has tons to work on and I just don't see him being that impact player some think.Oh the NBA would take him based on his raw talent but as far as being an impact player, kid isn't.

I just don't get a warm and fuzzy feel about him. Stuff in his recruitment just doesn't seem right. Anyone else feel that way?

He's gotta play 1.5 years wherever he goes at in college.. I'd take him mid year knowing he'll have to play a full year in '16/'17..

Matt Jones was just sharing this sentiment this morning. Said, something to the effect that many programs (specifically UK and I think KU) have cooled on him because of the "circus" that surrounds his recruiting. He didn't divulge any specifics, just that Maker and his "people" come with lots of drama/issues.

Hopefully the staff can reel in either the new offer Kirk or Brown (does anyone really know?) or myabe the Idunzu guy. Wynyard can still enroll in the second semester if needed. Only have 9 full scholarship players as of now.

No he doesn't...he will be eligible for the 2016 NBA draft
Everyone has assumed that, and I think you're right, but I guess you could make the argument that he won't be if he doesn't graduate from HS in June. The rule is 19 AND one year removed from HS graduation. A guy could leave HS without graduating, wait a year, and then enter the draft, but if Maker graduates after June, it's a legit question whether it pushes his eligibility back a year. He was initially in the class of 2016.

Interesting test case, like it would have been if Andre Drummond had stayed at a prep school for a 5th year, then tried to enter the draft (something he talked about doing before changing his mind). I suspect that Maker's people will successfully argue that he could have graduated in June, but that he needed some extra classes for college eligibility. The NBA seems far more interested in age than academic technicalities. Regardless, it would be a pretty unique situation. None of the recent guys who've changed classes have started college late.

If he's eligible for '16,, we don't need him.. He's not going to do much in 3 mths playing time.. Hurt more than he'd help..

UK has one legitimate scoring threat for next season - Skal. I'd take Maker at this point. He has potential to do more than anyone else on the current roster as far as scoring is concerned.

If his graduating class is 2015, then why isn't he showing up on a college campus until December/January? The way academic years run, that would make him part of the 2016 class.

Like I said, I think you're right that he'll be eligible for the draft next year, but it's not as cut-and-dried as you're making it out to be.

If there is any truth to this then I can see Cal passing on him and wait for someone in 16 class.

I jus get a bad vibe, knowing that his people have said that he will not attend a single class. Makes me think he is high maintenance, and a locker room problem waiting to happen.

Iirc Bill Walker had to play 1.5 seasons at Kansas State before he was eligible for the draft due to enrolling in December.

Wow Bill Walker. Hadn't thought of that high riser in years. What happened to him?

As far as Maker??? Beggars cannot be choosers and I'd go hard after his teammate Murray and sell them as a package.

I watched Maker on the court and he was a very good teammate. No sign of premadonnna he just needs strength in the worst way. I'd have that kid living in the weight room and on plenty of supplements to add as much bulk as I could get him too. He really needs 2 yrs of college.
What you guys saw on tv is him in real life. Just not really that good yet but has the potential to be special but needs strength in the worst way. His legs looked like burnt match sticks I was afraid his legs was going to break running down court at any moment. Great effort by the kid and plays hard, does not like contact.
Since the last I've seen Diallo I've heard he has gained some weight. He hated physical play as much as Maker and got pushed around all over the court. In a half court game Maker is the better player but Diallo shines in the open court when the offensive pace is really pushed.
Personally I think his skill set goes very well with UNC instead of KU. I think Duke would of been a better fit.

My opinion on maker is that I would love to have him here. However, only if he is able to play from the get go. I think if he came in mid season then we could find ourselves in a sticky situation Especially if we are looking good.

I don't think he ever plays college ball. I know he has said he is not going to Europe but I still think he will. Pass on him and get the next best. It will still be a good year and the "next guy" will be here for 3-4 years and we will be really good having him here for depth and balance.
