I thought he'd leave last year after Kenya Hunter left. Seems strange to announce you're transferring now when we haven't hired a new coach yet. Maybe he wants to be closer to home.

He just put his name in the transfer portal, but is going to wait to see who the next coach is before he makes a final decision.

Good deal, nothing wrong with that. I have faith Hoiberg will keep Allen in place. We need Roby and Allen here to give Hoiberg a fighting chance in year one. Hopefully Fred can pull a few grad transfers or land one or two top 100 guys that can play ASAP.

Wonder if he will have any interest in Cam Lard from ISU? Athletic big that has already said he’s transferring?

Totally agree. There's nothing wrong with a kid keeping his options open. How is he supposed to know what a new coach thinks of him or sees how he fits into his plans?

Personally I think if it is Hoiberg, he is the best possible candidate we could get, who could potentially keep guys on the roster and recruits to stay or still come here.

I understand Hoiberg wanting to wait until his kid is done in the tourney, but we really need a coach in here asap to try and stop this kind of thing from getting traction. The longer we wait to get a coach the more this is going to start happening. Not saying it is going to stop guys from transferring 100%, but it will help.

Allen doesn't want to be at Nebraska so it's an open slot for the new staff.
Correction, he only wants to be at NU if the new head coach fits his skill set. I don't blame him for looking until we know for sure who the coach will be. IF he leaves that's fine but for heaven's sake don't wish him gone. We can use him this next season. I suspect he'll end up staying.

Moos said 7-14 days, that would mean early next week we could have a coach. Allen can always take his name out. To me it means nothing yet. We will undoubtedly have some turn over, (mostly always happens with coaching changes) I’m still saying it’s Hoiberg and he and Moos have agreed to wait until MSU is done or atleast theses games are over this weekend. Imagine if MSU makes the final four and we announce Hoiberg next week. The pub we would get on TV at the final four would be unreal. Moos knows what he’s doing. Also, dead period starts next week so we can’t wven have a coach out recruiting.... no hurry in my opinion, let it be on Fred and Moos’ terms

What about that Jacobson kid from ISU? You know the really pale dude with the hair and the ears? Don’t you think he would be a good fit for Hoiberger’s defense. Do you think Jacobson would ever be interested in playing for Nebraska? Because that would be awesome...

People knocking transfers are out of touch with college basketball in 2019. All of these guys are well served to look out for themselves. It wouldn't be hard to find numerous posts about Jacobsen saying "Bye, we don't need you". Guess what? We needed him. Hopefully the coach will get Allen to stay, he has obvious scoring potential. Also, he didn't "declare himself to transfer", he put his name in the portal. Not the same thing.

Yep, Allen is a great 3 point shooter and sounds like Hoibergs offense features the 3 quite a bit, Allen matches his offense to a T.
