Some are trying WAY too hard lot convince us the SB halftime show was not only good but the best ever.

I don’t care what language it was in, this sounds horrible. Looks about as quality as my kids elementary school programs.

Number of views confirm it had the most eyes ever. Thank to DT.

135M vs 6M for the great kid rock lip syncing.

You are trying too hard to convince yourself that numbers lie. Your fearless leaders were part of the 135M.

It’s subjective. To some people it could’ve been the greatest ever. To me, no Super Bowl halftime show is “great” to begin with. A bunch of theatrics and pop stars. Not my thing.
I didn't watch either halftime show because I never do for the reason you mention. The quality has always been lame.

However, I've been reading posts on X by libs absolutely gushing about how electric it was and unquestionably great. Then I saw that video above. It looked characteristically lame. I honestly expected to see a clip and be forced to admit that it wasn't so bad. To be fair, I don't think it looked worse than any other halftime show, but there was certainly nothing "electric" about it. It just looks straight mediocre.

The ONLY metric anyone can offer is how many watched it. Which leads me to my McDonald's analogy.

Perfect analogy. I didn't even turn it on. I would never enjoy it so what would be the point?
Ha, yeah, I just don't get it. If you criticize the show (and the video above is the first I'd seen of it) you're immediately hit with "But x number of people watched it!!!!" FWIW, most of the people I know who watched it only did so b/c they'd heard all the controversy about it. Which is obviously why Goodell selected him for the performance. Controversy pumps up numbers.

As is with anything where politics is involved. A performance must be hated or loved based on which party you subscribe to.

One metric conveniently left out of the "yeah, but 127 million people watched it" thing is the fact that the Super Bowl halftime show was broadcast on NBC, a network every television in the country and a lot of the world gets. I still wonder how they came up with that number. How many tvs were set to the game and never changed for the entire game broadcast and no one in the building watched a second of the halftime show. I'm sure all of the tvs in bars, clubs, restaurants, etc. with the game on were not turned off at halftime. I'd like to see the number of "viewers" for the first half compared to the halftime number. I doubt there is much difference, so it isn't like millions tuned in for the halftime show. A more honest statement would be "127 million tv sets were tuned to NBC while the halftime show was on".

The TP show was on OAN and a bunch of other very secondary tv channels or streamed on various social media platforms. Every person who tuned in to it made a conscious decision to watch that show.

For what it is worth. I didn't watch either show and I thought the whole "alternate halftime show" idea was sort of silly. If you don't like the halftime show, don't watch it, problem solved.

Yup.

For me it's that the libs immediately went to "It was phenomenal! One of the all-time best!" I mean, objectively, it was not. Not even close. Nobody actually thinks it was phenomenal. The biggest selling point seems to be that it was in Spanish.

OTOH, we do live in a society that considers Taylor Swift a great musician.

Bite your tongue. The Puppy Bowl and Kitten Bowl are some of the best TV programming to ever be broadcast.
Well, according to Al Gore, the Puppy Bowl drew 11-12 million viewers. This is another number that I take with a grain of salt.

The Bad Bunny Number of 127 Million is good, but the Kendrick Lamar show a year ago reportedly got 133 Million. I don't know why people get so worked up over a half-time show. It's entertainment to pass the time. You either watch it or go to the concession stand/kitchen. They could get Red Panda (the lady that rides a unicyle and kicks bowls on her head at basketball games) for all I care.

I'm sure that I am counted as part of the 135M because the channel was never changed. However, no one watched as we were busy with other activities. What I heard did not sound bad to me.

Yeah, I had 3 TVs on for the game. 2 I didn’t change the channel. One I had a few ask to watch the TNP. I didn’t watch either.

127 or 133 million didn’t “Tune In” to watch Bad Bunny. They were tuned in to watch the Super Bowl. How many of those were really into the halftime show, we really will never know.

To get 5-6 million, or whatever it was, to stream a live YouTube event is pretty significant. I’m sure the viewers that tuned in to watch Bad Bunny were significant as well.

It’s sad that this is what the Super Bowl Halftime show has become. I’m not talking politics here. Has any of the artists the last 10 years been the type of music most “football fans” listen too? Maybe Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg.

I get the reason behind it all, to gain new viewers. But man it sure sucks to have to hear about this stuff leading up to the game each year. Or at least about 75% of the recent Super Bowls - specifically since Jay Z started producing them.

Of course in today’s political climate where everyone wants to be offended and the victim, it may be impossible to find someone. That blows even more.

I also find it humorous that libs are saying ridiculous things like "Even though I didn't understand a word of it, it was so unifying!"

Seriously, has this country always been this divided. When I was younger I did not pay attention to politics I thought it was only heated in the first week in November.

I do remember when Rush Limbaugh started out that created some excitement and then Fox News was invented that caused more excitement, but I do not remember the country being this divided.

Did start when President Obama was elected and half the country was not ready for that?

Was it When President Trump was elected and some thought he was not qualified?

As far as the Super Bowls, I only watch halftime if I am a fan of the entertainer other than that I do not pay much attention to halftime The NFL can do whatever.

At the same time the Daytona 500 can go get any performer they want and I do not care. I would doubt you will see Good or Bad Bunny performing at a Nascar event.

The division really lurched forward when Obama was elected, not because of anything he did necessarily, but for all those who claimed you were racist if you criticized him. Literally for 8 solid years, you were called a racist if you said anything negative about the president.

It's also been pushed forward b/c every celebrity now has to shoot their mouth off about politics. Every awards show is basically a political event. Even a lot of athletes, who mostly used to keep up an apolitical front publicly, have started voicing their political opinions. Of course you have the Kaepernick situation which thrust the NFL into political activism. Late night "comedy" is nothing more than political commentary. Kid's programming? Political.

You used to be able to escape politics, but it's permeated virtually every aspect of society. There's almost nothing you can do without encountering politics.

To the halftime show, libs injected politics in the first place. When conservatives complained about it, they were accused of injecting the politics. Just the way it goes.

It’s all about ratings. The media realizes people hate watch. They’ll focus on whatever gets more money from advertisers, even if it destroys this nation.

People need to take note. Absolutely ZERO of my real-life interactions reflect what’s going on in our country politically. Zero. And I can have the discussions and often do. They are always respectful both ways. The media is focusing on the nuts out there (primarily on social media) and making us all believe everyone feels the way they do. It’s so destructive…and it’s why I can’t stand pretty much all media except a few local sports voices. National Media has become as bad as anyone.

For me it started when Kanye West said President Bush hates black people. The look on Myers face is priceless.
