I didn’t say it was a perfect game by Iowa. I said I am proud of the effort.
Oregon has significantly more talent than Iowa does and Iowa hung tough the whole game. No p#ssy Kirk ball. It was playing to win the whole game. That’s all you can ask for.
If this is the type of football Kirk is willing to play, I want him as our head coach for 10 + years.
Iowa fought and played hard. Unfortunately in this cfp era, iowas season is pretty much over. There is nothing left to play for.
As far as Oregon is concerned, I am very impressed with their OL.

Most of us thought Iowa would be lucky to win 6 games this season. Plenty more to play for.
A record of 6-3 with this schedule is far superior than that.

Iowa needs more talent. Perhaps they will be able to woo more wide receivers to jump on board now.

Will agree with that but you have to close out better as it was in their grasps … heartbreaking

I'll say this . Its really easy to read this board and see who really are fans of the team, and the ones who simply masquerade as fans, and don't give a damn about our team.
The run defense looked like Swiss cheese the entire game. The pass defense disappeared on the final drive, when it was needed most. Blitzes seemed non existent So yeah, I blame the defense.
From what I remember, most were picking 8 or 9 wins, which is right where we will finish. I’m not real excited about the pinstripe bowl with half the team sitting out. jmo.
I’m proud of Mark G and the offense. They played their hearts out. Defense did their best to slow down the rushing game. In the end it wasn’t good enough.

Agree with OP. Saw things that give me hope. Driving 93 yards for a go-ahead TD in the 4th quarter? Can't remember the last time for something in a meaningful game. The D line, OTOH, got abused and the LBs are a huge liability. Hope there are young LBs that can grow up fast
All of their rbs are really good. You can probably count on one hand how many runs they didn't break at least one tackle.
The portal will be huge for Iowa this offseason. The narrative of Iowa being trash at offense no longer sticks.
I would love to see Iowa get some speed and talent at wide receiver. That’s the biggest need.
Hawks played their hearts out. But falling short with moral victories is beyond old. It’s time for new leadership that understands the current landscape of the game and what matters. Bowl games outside of the playoffs are meaningless now and nobody cares. We need to invest in this program with new leadership.
