This team will learn from all this...

Taking off the rose-colored glasses, this team doesn't have the QB play to be a NC contender. That has shown the second half of this season.

That being said...we had 2 opportunities to seize the ring this season and came up short. IMO...the moment was too big for a program that hasn't been there for several years. Getting a winning culture takes time. This is how a team not used to excelling acts when faced with positive press and a big spotlight.

I feel that Dana will be back next season and we will have a great team for him to coach. Our toughest games will be on the road this time and if we finish 10-2 this year we will start next season in the Top 10. Grier will be great and people will write nice things and we'll get some positive spin on ESPN.

Then a big game will come up....and those kids will remember how NOT to approach a big game after what happened against OSU and OU.

If we win these last 2 games, we will have done the next step in building a great program....beat all the teams you are expected to beat.

Next year will be about beating the teams we aren't expected to beat. I'd love for that to be in the CFP.

If Dana proves me wrong and is back next year, he should have all the pieces in place to at bare minimum challenge for a top 2 finish in conference.

Getting back what we get back, plus Henry, Cajuste and Ferns and getting Grier in? Dana would be dumb to leave unless he gets a huge offer from Oregon or LSU or Texas. Just refuse to sign anything and play his contract out. He'd be coaching for a Jackpot type contract in 2017.

I'd hate it as a WVU fan, but if that team could produce a NC....I'd be OK with it.

I have given up on national titles. We aren't and never will be in the running because we aren't "traditional." I'd rather us get a Big XII title first. Dana has a chance for that next year. It might be minuscule since he'll never beat OU, but it's a chance nonetheless.

I'll end this with I'm still convinced he's gone and it just depends now on who snags him up first. If Lyons botches the replacement, the AD and MAC will never see a dollar from me for football. We are in a better position than we were in 2012 and screwing up that progress is treasonous to this program.

Do you think Houston is traditional? Louisville? Both teams had excellent shots of getting in the CFP. If WVU wins out, gets a good opponent in a bowl, and beats them then WVU will start the season well ranked and have a good shot at the playoffs.

I couldn't agree more with much of what you said... especially about Lyons and his serious potential to really screw this up. I've called him the most dangerous element to our athletic department and is scares the hell out of me. I will change my will!

Unfortunately, Coal has been alive long enough to know that we traditionally screw up this type of scenario.

I believe we have the talent, the system and (finally) the QB to put this together.

Several on this site seem to have a strong bias against DH. It colors everything they say about this team and potential.

I have decided to stop criticizing DH in general and only pointing out the bone-headed stuff specifically. Last season I could hang my hat on the KSU final play. This year I have found little specifics to criticize other than general team prep for the two losses. Both could be blamed in other areas, but I don't like calling out individual players.

Coaching decisions are beyond my control and I am not qualified to make them. I can vote with my dollars like many, but I support the PROGRAM and not the parts.

Bottom line , if a coaching change comes about so be it. But we shouldn't make snap call that hurt the program

Changes typically increase revenue. Changes make fans and boosters feel like they're being heard. Stability produces long-term success.
