Big guy who can stretch the floor and open things up for Richards and Washington down low. If I were Cal I would actually be showing this team tape of that 2014-2015 team because of the similarities in terms of height and length. Would love to see Richards be able to convert on some lobs and easy finishes. With that said:

I'm hoping that JV can have a similar effect and help those 2 out, he looks to be a phenomenal interior passer.

Richards probably would have made that uncontested dunk Tuesday, and the other numerous layups, lobs, and dunks he has missed if Lyles was on this team....:100points:

When we are wishing, I always opt for Anthony Davis...always

This team needs a Winston Bennett. Someone to kick a few butts when guys go through the motions at shootaround.

his toughness would sure help

but this team also needs players that can catch passes, make passes on time & rebound
lack of basic basketball skills is sad

What this team needs is a healthy Green along with Vanderbilt playing extended minutes. When that happens, UK will be fine.

I don't know, Trey played soft to me. Always thought Trey was capable of more than he gave.
Yeah, it's long ago enough now that I can say it - he hurt us in the Wisconsin game. Everyone criticized Willie, and was Willie didn't have his typical game. But a minus is worse than a zero......

This team already has everything it needs the players just need to stay healthy, buy in and play to their potential.. PJ & Richards should dominate down low opening Shai, Green & Knox to do their thing (I'd say Diallo too but he needs a complete overhaul in teamwork cause his thing is a trainwreck) Gabriel, Sasha & it looks like Vanderbilt already bring the intangibles expected from them... If the team actually comes together like that I think we'd be as solid as any team in the country... If I could add anything it'd be another guard that could shoot the 3

This team needs a healthy point guard. And a healthy 3 point shooter. Is Baker gone for the season?

Trey Lyles didnt hit enough outside shots to open up anything for anyone in 2015... which makes what the team did that much more impressive...

This team could use knox and Gabriel at the 4 to open things up more for vando, green and SGA......... I'd say Diallo but everyone knows he's never passing the ball out to the wing anyways.

Yeah I don't think another power forward is what this team needs. This team needs a Doron Lamb - Legit 2 guard.

For christ sake learn basketball.

Lyles at the 4 shooting the 15 to 18 footer that he made rather frequently at UK would do wonders for this team.

So many of you on here are so quick to make someone look stupid, that indeed you're the ones who actually sound silly.

Threads like this are dumb, and the fact that Lyles is the name you came up with is strange. He’d be pretty far down the list.

Yeah a team with no legit shooting guard doesn't need a legit shooting guard. Good point.

I'm sorry you made a dumb thread.

PJ and Richards can hit the 15 to 18 foot jumper just as well. whats your point?

Lyles made 14% of his limited # of 3's (4 of 29). He had a decent mid-range game, but he was usually the 4th or 5th option when on the floor. That team offensively was ok, but not great. I think Knox probably exceeds what Lyle contributed in this area.

You're right. We need a legit shooting guard. Not disputing that.

However, dismissing a post that can spread the floor to open up space is inaccurate.

PJ and Richards have shown zero consistency in shooting the mid range.

Yes, SKJ has been a poor man's Lyle's.

You know what really opens up the floor? A dead eye shooting guard

Like Quade? 40% from 3 and a nice mid range game. We miss him more than some realize. SGA shoots 45.5% from 3. He just doesn't shoot enough of them because he penetrates for us with Quade out. We get QG back and I look for SGA to get more 3's up.
