Might even say weird. Various thoughts on this and the weekend.

Six straight SEC sweeps. As if a streak like that isn't strange enough by itself, it features sweeping twice at home, twice on the road, getting swept twice at home but not on the road. Let's keep it that way.

This team seem to do things in sync. Such as, the entire line-up stop hitting at the same time. Starting pitching all pitching well at the same time then, all crap the bed in the same weekend. It is uncanny.

Give up 3 runs in the first inning in all three games in a series. Trail past the half-way point, then win every game. With that said, I have never seen an LSU team this fundamentally inept since I was at State in the early 80s. One thing you can count on is they will be back. They already have some talented young players and there will be some serious coin spent by the coonasses in the portal after this season.

Right now I think this team has the talent to make some noise in the post season, maybe even get to Omaha but consistency might be our Achilles heel. This upcoming weekend at TX is put up or shut up time. We gotta get at least one.

I've been looking over a few resumes. All three of our remaining series are against realiy good teams with high quality tourney resumes. Texas is very, very good. We're going to find out a ton about just how good we are very quickly.

We are 6-7 vs Quad 1 right now. Unless someone really craps the bed, we have 10 more Q1 games remaining (out of 11 total, whew!). We've got to have 5-5. 6-4 would be good. 7-3 would be fantastic.

Somehow winning this series this weekend would be huge
Man it would be. I think we should expect to go at least 3-3 vs Auburn and A&M. But at Texas is a different animal. Other than the 2 games at A&M, they've been consistently good all year.

Texas has been consistent but has just one SEC sweep vs OK. Even lowly USC took a game from them in Columbia. They were technically swept once by TAM but it was that rain shortened series where they played just 2 games. Bottom line, we gotta get at least one. Two would be fantastic. Out of 7 series they are 3-4 in game 1, 4-2 in game 2, and 5-1 in game 3. Need to get that game 1.

I kinda like that Tomas wasn't his best and we still won this weekend.

He was pissed off Friday. I expect him to be ready to go in Austin. We need to get that first one.

Year one for BOC has been good, hopefully it will be great. Even the games we lost were very close except maybe one. We are finding ways to win, that is always good.

I agree. Much improved over what we’ve had but still not what we all hoped for. That said, they have the talent to get there before the end of the year, but while it was a fun weekend and walkoffs are great, consistently falling behind a bad team and having to come back is a big concern obviously, especially at home.

Honestly, if we play this weekend like we've played the last 2 weekends, we will get swept.

Agree, but it's also good for teams to see that they do have the ability to battle back when they are down. Just wish it had been against better competition.

What exactly did you hope for?

We're soon to be a Top 10 team in most polls with an opportunity to improve that. We're a host if the season stopped today. We're solo 4th in the SEC bunched in with some of the very best teams in the country.

If you're disappointed we didn't get 2 of 3 against UGA and Tennessee ((we'd be #2 right now if we had), I get that, but the season as a whole has played out pretty well at this point and we're positioned just fine.

We definitely need better starting pitching.

I'd kinda like to see a TBA for the Sunday starter then spring a healthy McPherson on them.
I'd just like to see a combination of good pitching and hitting. Seems like we have struggled getting both at the same time. Also most of this season we have not been good at getting off to a fast start at the plate then building on it. Despite our struggles for those two weeks I do like where we are right now. We do have a daunting task ahead though.

Im of the opinion that we need to get 3 of the last 9 SEC games to be at least a regional host.....gonna be tough if we play like we did against LSU.....i love that we swept them, but we needed a lot of help from them to do it....we didnt play particularly well....if we play like we did against LSU at Texas this weekend, we would be lucky to win one.....

No question it's going to be tough. Baseball is going to be ugly a fair amount. Getting the wins is what matters and it's been very rare this season that we haven't been competitive and in it all the way to the end. I'd like us to be perfect too, but we're pretty good.

Don’t know that 16-14 is gonna do it. Would have to see how we do in the SECT. This team has just been fortunate to play 6 straight against 2 of the bottom 3 teams in the conference. Did what we needed to but looked pretty bad doing it in 5 of them. LSU did a lot of the leg work this weekend.

The thing about teams that kinda of do things in sync is you don't want to see them in the opposite dugout when they are on a heater.....aka that F'n team. Sometimes you are better than your opponent but you just run into that F'n team. Here's to hoping that is who we become or are becoming.

Yeah, we were "that 17'n team" to Vandy those last two games in 21. It was quite enjoyable.

Even a single game in both those series would have us right where we want to be. We’d be alone on first place in the conference and considered a lock for a top-8 seed.
We’ve done what we had to do to recover from that atrocious 2-week stretch. The team deserves props for that. But it still lingers. We know we’re capable of going out and laying an egg, and we know there are 3 teams left capable of doing the same thing to us that Georgia and Tennessee did.
We’re also plenty capable of winning all our remaining series and making a run at the SEC title.
