They played pretty darn good for 32 minutes last night, had a 20 point lead or so at one point. Sure, there are things that have to be fixed. From the sounds of the post game presser, Cal and company will spend 3 hours today working on such issues.

If he can get this group to understand how good they can be and buy in on defense, they are deadly come tournament time. This group can score, something we have lacked with teams in the past, if they just become an average defensive team per Cal's standards, then they can make some noise in March.

The 2011 Team was so soft. No toughness at all. They lost every road game in the SEC the season was a disaster. They finished in the final 4.
The 2014 team was god awful and after the South Carolina loss most were sure they'd never get past that second round game against Wichita State. They made it to the National Championship.
I'm gonna sit back and see what Cal can do with this team. I love the process..

I yelled and screamed and was upset all last night too, but after thinking about it I calmed down.

I know schools in Fayette and surrounding counties are having major absence numbers with the flu bug and stomach bugs that are going around.

It takes a bit to get over that stuff.

Yes there are kinks we need to iron out, but this team is reminiscent of the 2014 team, just better at this point. If Cal has showed one thing it is that he is a great coach at getting young guys together and turning things like this around.

I'll make my own prediction here and now. We will beat Bama, and make a run to the Final Four again.

I trust Cal to work this out. That team on the court for the first 32 minutes beats anyone in America. He'll make sure they don't tire out or lose focus again.

Some of you were dead wrong. Cal basically said last night what some of the "negative" posters have been saying all week. It's over. Cal is allowing you guys to drop the shields and swords.

our defense has not been what I would expect. The effort is not there but the reward is. If we could become a scrappy team, we'd get steals and points in return. And my intuition tells me that Cal will get this team motivated. Even if we have nba picks next season.....There is a lot to work on. Especially with lsu getting within 10 points at the end of the game.....

That is why I think if Johnson continues with the press and up tempo he plays into our hands as much as can be done.We are going to have to play better,smarter and with more effort than we have in the past several games to give ourselves a chance to win.

UK is going to win Saturday. If Valpo, Arkansas, and Auburn can do it then so can UK.

Also we will still at the very worst win the SEC with a share so its not like we are going to miss the tourney or even be worse then a 2-3 seed. Alot of sky falling nonsense but we see this every year about as WE ALWAYS START FRESHMEN . But it is what you gotta do to be the most talented as the most talented usually ( not always ) wins out. Next years team might win a title ( like this year's) but IMO next year's team will lose way more games then this year's . This is a 6 loss team tops heading into the dance. I think next year we might have 9-10 losses heading into the dance as we will BE PLAYING 7-9 NEW PLAYERS MOST FRESHMEN ( see the pattern?)

I'm sure he's frustrated.. This team appeared to be one of Cals elite squads earlier in the season. It's one thing to have shortcomings but when your coaching a team as talented as this team and can't get the effort or the pride to defend it's gotta be trying. I don't feel sorry for him though. He makes a lot of money to figure this out. Personally I think he gets this turned around.

I agree about next year, SEC is going to take a big jump next year and if people are going nuts about 5 losses now wait till next year.
