Would be great if an existing drug could effectively treat the virus. Lot's of drugs have many side benefits. Would be much quicker getting it to the people that need it.

It’s the one drug that’s really shining in all the testing. Let’s hope and pray it works in further testing.

Sooner the better. My sister in laws husband was just admitted to the hospital for difficulties breathing. He’s negative for flu is all we know. She’s at home isolated in the bedroom with fever and cough.

Yeah I’ve been hearing about this since this past weekend where these smaller trials were done and I know the FDA and others will be very cautious to say yes because they are not strictly controlled trials. But at this point you would think that anything like this that show promise in multiple countries that there has to be something to it. I know if I get it I’m going to ask my doctor to prescribe it.

Wow! I have looked into this since it hit the news, because it sounded a lot like the drug we had to take in Vietnam to prevent us from getting malaria. Back then (1966-67) we took one large pink pill every Tuesday morning. It was called Chloraprimaquinine or something close to that. As far as I know we only had one soldier get sick with malaria. Every Tuesday we had to sign a sheet and take the pill in front of a medic. The only side effect I remember was that for the first week or two it would cause some soldiers to get diarrhea for a day or so. I really believe that this drug protected us from Malaria because some mornings out in the bush I would wake up with hundreds of mosquito bites on exposed areas. I really hope this works for this virus. I know malaria is caused by a parasite but maybe it works for this virus too.
