Ucla is 1-5. Time to move on from Schiano.
The D has apparently check out on Greg and Joe H. Injuries are one thing but playing without intensity or focus is something entirely different.
Sloppy arm tackles, malaise play, missing assignments all over the field ( #88 TE open constantly …I mean 15 yards open over in the middle in every Qtr making numerous plays}. We all know the team is done.
Focus on the Portal and keeping the incoming class together.

That happens when you have pass rush issues and a QB who gashed you running the ball.

1) You cannot get pressure/sacks.. lots of time to throw
2) so you send extra rushers.. that hurts coverage.. more man, bigger gaps in zone
3) QB runs force you to assign a LB to watch the QB

This is what the injuries do.. then add in slowed down players playing hurt.

We barely made a bowl last year with a relatively healthy team. Sure, we had more sure losses in the schedule.. but just like last year, every Big Ten game was then, and remains now a possible loss. Yeah.. it would have been nice if we won every toss-up game and our talent proved superior to other Big Ten teams... but if you really look at everything.. including injuries.. how could anyone reasonably expect 9-10 wins? And that was if we were healthy.

It was always a nice dream. A remote possibility. And while it is nice to expect whatever success the hot teams are having.. like Kansas last year or Indiana this year.. that is cherry-picking. Rutgers has some big hurdles to overcome and while some insist GS will never get us over that hump.. we do have recent experience with non-GS coaches who kept us at the very bottom.

I don't know who can get us over the hump or how we would hire said unnamed genius. Anybody else know? To me it is like complaining that the Rutgers Campus doesn't have the palm trees or balmy weather of Miami or Stanford.. or the gothic beauty of Princeton that is just down the road.. no kidding.

Since our offense never throws over the middle, our defense has never seen that in practice.

I am ok rooting and being happy for Big 10 teams .. we won't always suck... One day we will be Indiana.

At least we aren't Syracuse, Boston College or UConn. In 1-3 years we will be able to leverage B10 money .. won't help us within the B10 but recruits won't even consider ACC or Big12. It will be SEC or B10.

We'll be in a good place, just won't be in the shower term.
