I think most of us who post on here can multi-task and like different things at the same time, and the last time I checked we are all free to our own opinions. Every fan of EVERY program wants success and championships.

I've LOVED UK basketball for as long as I can remember and for the most part, all of the players while they are at UK. I usually follow their careers once they leave UK whether they graduate or or they leave early (1-n-done).

I don't get the constant whiny reply comments at times whenever someone brings up anything about ex-UK players in the NBA!!! If you don't like the conversation, just ignore it and move onto something that fits your own personal likes and ideas.

Since Tubby and BCG (my low points in the last 50+years), Coach Cal has made the off-season, the in-season and the post-season more enjoyable based on his recruiting ideas/ prowess/ success and so far through ten years, UK success.

So unless it's dealing with little butt-hurt trolls on CI, I rarely get into it with anyone.I just don't understand why some people on here can't seem to distinguish one (Cal) without the other (1-n-done/NBA) without losing it.
  • UCLA: 100-years/ 11-championships
  • Kentucky: 116-years/ 8-championships
  • Kansas: 122-years/ 3-championships
  • Duke: 114-years/ 5-championships
  • UNC: 109-years/ ***7-championships***
  • UCONN: 118-years/ 4-championships
These schools combined, have averaged one championship every 18-years of their competitive existence.

Actually the topic was worth a discussion until a thread Nazi decide what is an appropriate topic.

so she should get grief for the OP??? Seriously?

Not sure what you're talking about, I actually "liked" the OP. You seem confused or just like to argue.

So who do you see going to the NBA from this team and where do you see them getting drafted?

Asking for a friend.

Wow!!! I NEVER said I liked the NBA!! As a matter of fact, I don't. Check my prior posts. Some of you who like to complain about ANYTHING totally missed the point of the original post. I was just pointing out that everyone seems to think K gets all these guys to the NBA, but the article shows just how much those "great" players from Duke DON'T make it in the pros. I NEVER once talked about UK and our guys in the pros...just that Cal seems to do it better than K, but doesn't get credit. No where did I say if I liked it or not!!!! Geez!!!! Some of you must be real Joy's to be around in real life if you're this great here!! Not!! I don't mind people disagreeing with me or not liking what I said. But just make sure you KNOW what I said and don't add to it or make up stuff!!! You are the people I can't stand. DON'T MAKE UP STUFF OR EMBELLISH IT!!! Ok, I feel better...lol.

The thrust of your post is conspicuously clear to any resonably intelligent person. There is no dispute that UK has performed exceedingly well under Cal’s “one and done” recruiting approach. Only Rupp can match or exceed what Cal has done during a ten year period of UK basketball.

Some fans must have already forgotten how mediocre or worse UK was when Cal rescued UK from the catastrophe that was Gillispie. Even before Billy UK was struggling to secure major talent under last few years with Tubby. Cal instantly changed all that. The Uber talented players have come to UK like never before in its history. They came directly because of Cal. Cal has provide UK with 4 Final Fours and a national title and this year, his 10th, is still ongoing.

The people who whine about Cal complain he should have done better with the talent he has recruited. Perhaps so. Still, I believe these are special years for UK. Cal has done a remarkable job. Indeed, it is hard to imagine that his future replacement will do any better during his first 10 years at UK.

It’s all good.

I’m in KC now. Trust me when I say this, there’s not a more hardcore UK fan than I am.

No matter the numerous posters that trash me, I’m 100% a diehard fan.
I have never questioned your fan hood and you have had some great points but at times, like on this thread, you come across as an arrogant prick.

I actually hardly ever see you get trashed on here. In fact, it seems a lot of people like you. But your initial post in this thread deserved all the pushback it gets. Def out of line.

I don't think anyone has questioned your devotion to UK.

People don't prowl this board to put other people down, they respond to what other people post.
I can agree with your take. I just seems some people tend to get really aggressive rather than just respond with their side and not attack the person. I've been one of the worst and plan on tempering my responses. Conversation is a good thing but attacking people is not.

Who cares what Coach gets players to the NBA?

As a UK fan, why in the hell would I care about this?

I don’t give a damn if we never have another player drafted, as long as we win more titles.
Seriously dude, please go play in traffic blindfolded.

Don't worry the sober intelligent people here appreciated your post. Heck I even bookmarked it for future reference. Sports fans, and especially drunk men, tend to lose their brains during games and the 12 hours immediately following a close game. Sometimes it's like driving past a landfill, you just have to hold your breath till you get past the stink.

Because its no different than if medical students go on to work at prestigious hospitals and people around the world fly to visit them for their expertise.

People succeeding under the tutelage of a university, regardless of the profession, should garner respect for that university.
Careful there. Do you what university has the #1 rated medical school for first choice residency?

I don't, but it doesn't affect my point. If we put players in the NBA which is the top level of the profession it only helps the perception of our basketball program.

With all the shady **** coming out, I don't put nearly the blame on Cal for the recruiting misses that might have given us a player or two that could have turned the tide into a championship.

You got the privilege of watching Karl-Anthony Towns and a Final 4, primarily because of what Calipari did with John Wall and Anthony Davis. Don't be dumb.

Believe it or not, I do agree with you. I just wish your reading comprehension was better. That was NOT the point of my post.. If you would take the time to read and comprehend, you might just see that.

Kentucky got Khalil and Maxey, two 1AD players who will get us a ton of wins enxt year, because of what he did for other players. And Kentucky would have gotten more had we not had so many players coming back.

Coach K got ONE 1AD type player.. how many others turned him down this year? Stewart, McDaniels, Anthony, Antoine, Lewis, etc etc.. despite having clear roster spots open for next season. Because Coach K has not produced NBA talent.. despite his recent pay-to-play success.. kids still see the results and Cal is still #1.

I couldn't figure out what you all were talking about in regard to kev69, because I didn't see his post. The I realized I had him on ignore...pro a lot for his other ignorant posts. So I took him off ignore, read and responded to it. Thanks to everyone for your support. You are the ones who actually understood the post and didn't read into it something that wasnt there. That is my biggest pet peeve on here...people who read things into something and get upset about something that isn't there...whew...I feel better again. lol

My apologies to Susan.

In retrospect, my response came off as insensitive and personal. (Not really how I meant it)

My fault.
Thank you, kev69. And I'm sorry i called you an idiot. Hope all is good now. We have a common goal and that is to get #9. I envy you being in KC. Have a good time.

If you don't think coaches having players have NBA success has any impact on recruiting, look no further than Anthony Edwards. Yes, it helps UGA that he's from Georgia, but he's talked over and over about how Crean coached similar players like Dwyane Wade and Victor Oladipo and that he patterns his game after those guys
