While surfing the internet, I found this. Made me all giddy with happiness. Everybody thinks Coach K gets his players to the NBA better than Cal. Please read this. Number 2 especially made me smile and have some satisfaction.

EDIT: This is an update for people like kev69 who have a difficult time with reading comprehension. I never said I liked the NBA. I don't. What made me happy is when I read about all the Duke players that DIDN'T have big careers in the NBA, because K is supposedly the best at getting them there now. When in reality it is Cal. I don't like it and don't watch it. I was just defending Cal's reputation. It's as simple as that.

Who cares what Coach gets players to the NBA?

As a UK fan, why in the hell would I care about this?

I don’t give a damn if we never have another player drafted, as long as we win more titles.

Because its no different than if medical students go on to work at prestigious hospitals and people around the world fly to visit them for their expertise.

People succeeding under the tutelage of a university, regardless of the profession, should garner respect for that university.

Because Cal uses the NBA dream to recruit the top players each year in an attempt for THAT single year to win our precious title. The NBA/UK players drafted and national titles are not mutually exclusive. As was shown in 2012 Cal can do both.

Kev and I have butted heads several times but he’s one of the better posters here. The NBA/national championship has always been a burr under his saddle, I get it. We agree to disagree and I’ll chalk his terse response up to happy hour somewhere or a bad day.

I understand not caring what the draft stock of our players are. That’s valid as a UK fan to not worry about it, or at the very least put UK Sports on a much higher pedestal.

BUT, there’s nothing wrong with caring or taking pride in the players that are highly drafted and/or doing well in the NBA. This board can be extremely quick to shut down the nba talk or draft talk or to scoff at both.

Caring about the draft or the NBA in no way indicates someone finds it more important than final fours and national championships. I don’t lose sleep about the draft or the NBA by any means, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care about it or didn’t take pride in it at all.

If you don’t care about any aspect of the NBA, great. If you love the NBA, great. We’re all UK fans, though. There’s no one way to be a fan.

Odd how seemingly intelligent posters here fail to see the connection between recruiting and NBA draft success.

Hard to win titles without future NBA players on the team. Preparing kids for the league, improving their draft status is a huge part of recruiting top ranked HS players.

Kev youre horrible. Why youre beloved escapes me. We absolutely got your point, and your dead wrong as usual. The nba and top rexruits go hand and hand. As many others have said, if you dont get that connection then sorry.

But someone posts something very innocent and relevant and you go bash them because you dont see the benefit to Cal doing this better than K. Let me help you. You say alm thay matters is championships, if thays true , you should love her link. Because ot sbows we have the best coach in the country to get elite players here and win. Then fullfill their dreams and get them to the league.

But man you get on here all drunk and angry lately. Its hard to watch and read man. Come on Kev

Recruits see the success UK players have in the NBA. That has helped recruiting substantially. It is also true the shoe companies have made getting the very top recruits the last few years very difficult to come to UK because UK isn’t going to bid on recruits. But this year’s roster is proof you can have a title contender and not sell your soul.

Wow! Jrows post the other day about attacking posters sure didn’t reach some of you. Mods maybe you need to remind some of these posters. I’ve apologized and promised to follow the rules, some on here may need a reminder. Kev69 is just posting his feelings about this subject. If you don’t agree that’s fine, but some of you are really being nasty. Don’t be nasty we are all fans and should be able to disagree without being nasty. Yea, I get tired of it as well. If Duke can keep Grayson Allen for four years, I feel like we should get Herro for 2 at the least. So, I'm with ya man.
