It won’t take 10 years to recover. It will just take that long (really 3) to grow the nads to fire the 17er.

This is exactly why it will take 10
Years to recover. People actually think he is qualified to be here, much less the only choice we have to improve.

Can you please explain how it’ll take a coach 10 years to football team to a competitive level? Especially at a program that already recruits in the top 25.... I don’t think JoMo is the guy but we are not recovering from some death penalty.

Most of y’all were jizzing in your drawers at the improved offense when tommy was healthy. So we have a true ******* freshman having to step in and your expecting the same?

Our defense sucks. We lost 3 first rounders. What the **** are you actually expecting from this coach?

You are right about replacing elite talent and Stevens being hurt. But they just looked flat out unprepared and unmotivated. That’s on Joe. A motivated team and one that is put in the right position to make plays, wins today. You don’t need 3 first rounders to be motivated and driven. In fact, this “three first rounders” excuse needs to die. Defense has been improving. HIS offense is what crapped the bed today and gave the D nothing to work with.

Misspelled shittiness

Because we are Mississippi state playing in the sec west. We aren’t supposed to have it as good as we have. We are quickly headed to the bottom of the west. Our mishandling of the last two years could easily cost us many many years to recover. Remember, everyone is ahead of us if we start today. We had to be the alpha dogs and hire a coach within 48 hours and we failed. That’s not a good look for our athletic department. This is croom level shittiness. Maybe it won’t take ten. Maybe it will take 5 or 7. But regardless, it didn’t have to be this way. Kansas state is a perfect example of this. Instead of being smarter than everyone else maybe we could have hired a winner.

Agreed. The 10 year recovery thing is just hysteria talking. Kicking the prick out is not.

We have forgotten how quickly we can slip to the bottom and how long it takes to resurface. But hopefully you’re right.

We have literally experienced the depths of hell(Croom), and it took 2 years to get out of it. The rebound doesn’t concern me. It’s the holding onto of the prick that alarms me.

17 you’re intolerable. Again, focus on the prize. The prick has not accomplished one meaningful thing.
He’s been here 1 season and a few weeks. His resume is on par or better than any coaches in history at this point. Before you get bent , my point is we aren’t exactly an elite power. In fact you mention Top 25 talent but that still puts us bottom half in the conference.
Am I happy with the results so far? Hell no but I also am not gonna actively root and scream for change at this point. We have a season to play and I’m gonna support them going forward I wish others would also. The problem is that there are several who would rather us fail, not for a change in coaches, but to say they are right. It happens in every sport we play

The guy has coached a year and three games. I’m not super happy with him either right now, but some of you are not really in touch with reality. He may end up being a dud of a coach, sure, but he’s going to get a Year 3 no matter what happens the rest of the season. And if we go to a bowl game it’s really unlikely that he’s even on the hot seat next year.

Complain all you want but you don’t fire a guy after two years that results-wise are on par with what we’ve done in the last decade aside from 2014. That is not how rational athletic programs operate. That’s how you end up with a Rick Ray type of hire. Mullen was here 9 years and won between 5 and 8 regular season games in 8 of those 9 years. Moorhead’s first two years are probably going to be very much in line with that.

If he drops below that mark or shows no signs of progress by Year 3 or 4 then it’s fair game, but doing anything before you see how things play out is incredibly risky. You can have your own opinions about how you think things will go, but that’s not enough to go on to fire the guy. He hasn’t accomplished much yet, but the sample size also isn’t big enough yet to say he’s been a total failure. We could suck and miss a bowl game or be a decent team that goes 7-5, there’s a lot to be determined even this year.

Fellas my thing is we have an elevator slowly heading to the top floor. Take your time. If we enjoy where we are at we will stay. If not we climb on the elevator and ride down. Why jump off the roof so early? Hail State! I’m in this with all y’all!!!

I don't think you're qualified to be on this board. I'm not pumping sunshine, but this is nothing we haven't seen in the past 10 years. Holloway wasn't running up the middle today.

we played in a GATOR bowl tht we would be eligible for after 7 wins? JoBlow may not wreck u to the point of hoping for winning seasons but do not act as if a Gator owl in 2010 equals a gator in 1995.

I expect clock management. I expect personnel management, having the right # of players on the field. I expect player discipline w/out personal fouls. I expect classroom attendance w/out tutorgate. I expect receivers to catch balls. I expect college level defenders to be able to tackle no matter how many first rounders left last year. I expect kickoff teams to at least touch a return man instead of letting him breeze untouched for a TD. Those are BASIC expectations that any fan should expect and a head coach should expect from himself

Not sold on Joe as a HC. Nevertheless, right now with the suspensions and 10 players eligible for 8 games, it's like he's trying to make a patterned patch work quilt. He has to substitute patterns in the quilt and they don't match. He has to guess each game which player(s) will or won't play. All this in addition to trying to make a game plan and execute it. Fact is he ain't going anywhere till at least the end of next year probably two years after this one at least. We might as well deal with it and hope he does as well

The very worst part about it is that we had our program positioned AND OM was positioned for us to step up and dominate this state for a decade. The most MState thing we could do would be to totally botch hiring our next coach. Mission completed !!!
As someone that follows MSU Athletics pretty well, you should have known better. Since realignment in 92 we have been doing this dance for 27 years. When one of us looks buried the other trips up. We will be doing this tango as long as Batman and The Joker.

How is this a response to my post? Makes little sense.
I didnt argue that he is accomplished. I argued that he isn't awful.

There is a difference.

Please name a coach that inherited more at MSU. {Better facilities, no; better money, no; better talent, no.} His resume is below where it should be.

The two bolded statements above are a bit overstated.

For example, do you think Arkansas is ahead of us? Ole Miss?

And, in my opinion, we are a long way from "Croom level."

So then what is an appropriate level of success then? I was responding that it won’t take 10 years to recover. Better look up because the point just flew right over you

I believe that Cohen's arrogance lead him to hire Moorhead. I am convinced that he made a quick hire to show Mullen that he wasn't irreplaceable. Hiring someone with zero SEC experience, with his only head coaching job being the mighty Fordham program was a colossal mistake.

Who would you have hired in November 2017? Who would you hire right now?
