He was terrible shooting and awful on D especially late in the second half and OT. Looked good when he penetrated.

Quade is just giving us nothing. Absolutely zero.

I said he finishes at the rim. Who cares at this point, but that's what I said when he gets to the rim, reverse layup, strong play, whatever he finishes when he gets to the rim and he only had 1 TO so not sure I get your point.
Sorry bud. I didn't see your first post where you said at the rim. The one I quoted just said to the basket. When he lost the one to PJ at the rim it wouldnt count as a turnover. The one where he jumped into the guys chest went straight up in the air so would have counted as a shot. But those are two instances where he didnt finish at the rim.

Like I also said who do you want Quade? Came in two passes right to the other team, a shot hit the bottom of the rm and a foul. 3 TOs, zero ast and 2pts. We will have to go threw the growing pains with the freshman. 4 guys played the same or more than Herro and didn't out score him. It's not like Herro is a top 10 recruit and not playing up to standard. I still like him and see him as being one of the keys to this team, right or wrong. Quade is not an option at all, you talk about liability and zero defense. It was just a game ago everyone was celebrating Herro and his 5 or so steals now everyone saying he can't play D. Most fans here change from one game to the next, that's crazy.

Like I said. I dont know. Quickly was better shooting the ball today but was just as bad defensively. Herro is great at anticipating passing lanes and getting steals. Didnt do that today. He struggles with on the ball defense. His role is to be the shooter and he has failed in that role. I don't think he is the reason we lost the game as other people have said. And I also don't think he is the best player on the team as others have said. You have to play him and hope he starts shooting better. As you said Quade has been terrible. I think you have to run with Hagans and Herro with Quickly as the backup to both.

We’re not a great shooting team, but I don’t think we’ll have many games as bad as today. It felt like we couldn’t throw the ball into the ocean. I don’t think we’ll have a game shooting the ball this bad the rest of the season. Fans still need to be patient.

Herro is the least of our problems.

Umm ...NO. We may have other problems, but he is certainly not "the least" of them.

In an era when perimeter wing play is more important than ever, our starting SG appears to be a really weak perimeter defender and has not been able to hit anything from outside against decent competition.

If that doesn't soon change, its a serious problem, not a "least" one at all.

He did nothing to "keep us in the game." He was awful in every aspect. At this point, I'm not surprised when he misses shots, because he's just not a good shooter. But he didn't do anything else well either. Go back and look at his defense on the first couple of possession of OT. He's going to be really embarrassed if they actually have a film session on this game.
He had a bad shooting day. But he is the best passer on the team. And as far as missing those 3’s Cal says if you are open and pass the shot up you are coming out. We don’t set any screens and we don’t help the screener set up the screen either! We have so much to learn. I do think Richards was supposed to screen on the last possession and he just took off running down the floor and then remembered too late to get the job done! Still think Cal should have called time out! But he hardly ever does in that situation!

You’re an idiot. One player, or one play, never loses a game. They hit shots when it counted, we did not. But, you’re a complete idiot for making a statement like that. I’m betting you never played the game past the 2nd grade..
How much are u betting? See my answer to Kev 69 on the complete idiot quote.

Tyler had a bad shooting game and it showed, imo why we lost. any 3 would have put the game in our favor. He just had a bad day. I stll think he's a very good player, just one of those games. Maybe stage fright..
Nope.
or
  • Fewer TOs.
  • An out of bounds play under our basket.
  • Make the players bank those close attempts.
  • Stop getting out-hustled.

Herro should've called a timeout at the end and designed a play. Good point.

:flush:
According to the stats on KSR. Cal's teams have been in a position to tie or win the game late 23 times. He has called time out in that situation 11 times with a positive outcome (win) 4 times vs a success rate of 7 times when no time out is called. So the numbers seem to back Cal's theory of it is better to not call time out

He didn't get all the way to the rim on a couple of them. He lost the ball driving to the basket. You said he finished every drive to the basket. But if you drive to the basket and lose the ball on the way, it's still a drive to the basket even though it didn't result in a shot. The one though he got to the basket and lost the ball which went right to PJ for an and 1. Another one he drove all the way to the basket, jumped into the guys chest and lost the ball before he could get the shot up. That one should have been a foul.

Reading comprehension dude. He did not say he finished every drive he said at the rim. that would indicate he made it to the rim. not that he attempted to get to the rim and didn't make it there. When you lose the ball there is no shot attempt so every time he made it to the rim he finished THE SHOT and didn't clang it off the rim or backboard.

He has to make shots and guard no doubt, but I say we win if Travis doesn't foul out.

Agree completely—and can you believe the last 2 fouls in that game called on Reid!!? I just wish we’d had the refs that just called the game against UT and Gonzaga. They were good and allowed players to play the game without calling cheap ******** fouls!

For those putting Herro down can you do better ? He is not a machine and some of you need to quit posting after a loss.

The good news is that Herro's bi-polar play will be enough for him to leave for the league next summer and end his generational poverty.

I'm just happy we get to cheer these kids on for 7 months before they go chase their dreams.

Made me laugh- and true

Luke Kennard stared off shooting at a clip below what was expected of him and rectified it as his career progressed. If Tyler stays at UK long enough, he may follow a similar arc. I hope he does stay long enough to improve, and that UK can reap the rewards instead of some random GLeague team.

I think many fans, myself included, were hoping for the next Devin Booker, but Tyler is definitely not that.

Have all of you guys forgot how to read?

Look at the stats. They shot 40% plus from three for the game. if someone does that to you, you are beat most likely. This game is on the 2nd half defense beyond the arc. You think anything else lost it you are barking

Could someone translate this sentence from Drunkese to English for me?

But kudos on the first triple straight "you" I've seen.

Cal is doing the same thing to Herro that he did to Knox, Monk and others. They get confused and don't know whether to drive it or shoot it. Kids come here shooting lights out in high school and Cal coaches his only way he knows how, the dribble drive. That combined with having to play defense for the first time in their lives accounts for some L's. It is what it is.

We spend the first 3 months of the season teaching kids how to switch defenders off of pick and rolls. Shooting isn’t taught until February. Come on you guys know this
