Sorry but it is. For whatever reason he refuses to play Woodard in the 2nd half. We were rolling in the 1st with Woodard in and Adu on the bench and he decided to flip for some reason. I’m sure we’ll get another “we didn’t realize he didn’t play” or something along those lines in the press conference

what a clown Howland. it's time to send him to the retirement patch. forgetting to play players. getting players screwed up on score card. Is he losing his mind?

I just don’t understand that. Does Howland have some kind of mental issues or something? Seems this has happened multiple times this season.

He just took complete blame for not playing Woodard and Tyson and giving Q no rest on the postgame radio interview.

Hell, at least he realized it but ****.

Someone should get the student section Woodard Fatheads to hold up and remind him.

Problem is that it is the 3rd time he has apologized for not playing the best players and “forgetting” about Woodard. Put a rubber band around your f’n wrist or something if it’s that complicated...

My issue is that it isn’t the first time this happened. Remember the first Ole Miss game? And it doesn’t take a basketball genius to see that Woodard was making a big difference in the first half. Reid had 4 points at halftime with Woodard defending him and 25 in the second half with no Woodard on the court. How do you let that happen?

I could feel this one coming after the first half. You have a strong first half by a few players, and the rest think they’re shooting good too - except they’re not, and we end up with 4 guys combining to go 0-11 from 3. And it was just made worse by Howland apparently not paying attention either.

Taking blame after the fact doesn't cut it anymore. We needed this win tonight bad. Woodard is absolutely one of the best 5 players on the team. PLAY HIM!!

Woodard hits a 3 in the 1st Half to pull us to 14-8 and a few minutes later it's 25-16 State.

And you forget about that guy?? I'm still lost.

He's twice the size of Tyson Carter and twice the athlete of Holman too. I don't know how Woodard could make it anymore obvious he deserves to be on the court. He plays harder than just about everyone else too.

just saw where he said he didn't want to take Q out and didn't play him because of the LSU size. that's BS. He plays bigger than Holman ever thought about being. that's just crap coaching. Howland must not see the same Holman the rest of us do. Woodard plays circles around Holman on the defensive end. He plays much larger than his size because of his motor and his bounce.

Somewhere the assistant coaches are partly to blame as well. If he’s forgetting they need to, I don’t know, point at Woodard and shrug, like “WTF”??? It seems impossible to forget Woodard sitting there on the bench for the entire second half...

Howland obviously has a soft spot for Holman none of us have. Woodard plays hard. Holman doesn't. It's really that simple. Woodard is a hell of a lot stronger physically than Holman. If I am taking 5 guys for a dog fight I am picking Woodard 3rd or 4th in order. Holman would be about my 8th pick.

Kinda hard not blame the chief in that scenario. Guy is being paid millions and should know who’s playing when

The assistant coaches don’t do squat with this team. The little simple fundamentals are lacking, and it’s cost us big. Mentally we collapse in the big moments most of the time.

Once again. The head coach should have these kids mentally prepared to be in the big moments. Lack of focus and lack of big game coaching.

Really. How can you ignore or forget to play someone? Doesn't he have assistants that can remind him?

Well here's the thing, our assistants suck. Our players are pretty much as good as they'll get when they step on campus.

Unbelievable. He completely forgot about two guys that were 4-6 from three in the first half, and for what? So that we could keep Ado and Peters on the floor?

Anyone watching last night could see that Peters was off, and Ado is off every night, so I just don’t get it. That turnover they combined to have at the end of regulation can definitely be stored in the “you can’t ever do this” box

Howland is Bob Boyd Light. He's not coasting through his semi-retirement years quite as bad as Boyd did, but damn is he ever not putting much effort into coaching this team. He's a hell of a lot better recruiter than Boyd ever dreamed of being, but damn, this **** is getting old. The team deserved to win last night and they deserved a coach who would put them in the best position to get that win. And right now, that ain't 27 minutes for Holman and only 12 for Woodard.

It's concerning that he wouldn't play Woodard at the 4 due to matchups when Naz Reid scored 25 AFTER the half against the guys in the game.

I think it's on the players. Perry missed at least 6 free throws including 4 straight. On at least one occasion, the following possession for LSU yielded 2 points after Perry missed 2 in a row.

He missed them at a time we should have been building a lead (multiple times), but instead it allowed LSU to have 4 point swings.

Hate to say it, but Perry cost us the game everything else being equal.

ETA: Forgot about Woodard going MIA bc of Howland, so that's on Howland, but we still could have won had we hit our FTs by a certain player.

If I were Woodard, I would have gone to him and demand I get in. He has earned his minutes......

No!! Howland should have gone out there and made the free throws for Perry and Q. He also should have told Ado not to throw in the 17ing backcourt after getting the rebound

^THIS^ And if 5 minutes goes by with him on the bench start the chant...RO-BERT WOO-DARD clap clap clapclapclap. I’m not trying to be funny. I think we really need to help remind him. Also we can save some money by letting all the assistants go. It’s evident they are of no help.

Yes, had we made a couple of more plays we would have won, but that misses many of the larger picture issues. If nothing else, we need to play 8 consistently so that our players are fresh at the end of the game. Our guys were gassed in overtime, plain and simple. The other problem is that we had no chance of stopping the Waters/Reid high ball screen game, so instead of trying a zone to take that away and see if LSU could make 3s, we just settled for a game of "let's just let Q try to match Waters on every possession". As soon as I saw that was our entire gameplan, I knew we were in trouble. And yet, thanks to Q, Perry and even Holman, we still had a shot to win it.
