The sad fact is he can do or not do whatever he wants until 2030 because there will not be enough cash to fire him. His idea that there has been progress this year is laughable. Yes ST are better thanks to Eckler. And that is where the "progress ends". O line was a little better the second half of the season. But progress to a Husker fan is two things. 1. The eye test. Is what we are seeing considered "good football". If you want to define that, IMHO it means your not being curb stomped in big games. When your 6-2 you finish. You have every motivation to do that. 2. Your record says you are better. 7-5 in my book falls short of what I would call progress. Win on of those 3 big games, ( Minn, Iowa, Ped State ) and at 8-4 we can begin to talk about progress. You only have to look at the Ped State V Rutgers game to see a team, with far fewer resources , that was able to take Ped State down to the wire. Rutgers made progress this year on the field. NU did not. And so Ruhle sets sail toward 2026 which by all accounts will be a very rough year. This time next year, and God willing that we are all still here, what kind of "progress: will we be talking about and how will MCMR spin his idea of "progress". At 4-8 or 5-7 that is going to be a tall task even for MCMR who as we know, can spin with the best of them.
