Did OU and UT used to play every year? Like in the 70's and 80's?
Yep. Red River Rivalry. The hatred between the two programs in the 70s and 80s was real. I don't think NU has a rival with as much bad blood as OU and the Uterines.

didn't your school just settle a fairly sizable law suit for acting on a similar opinion?

What's funny is that he himself as rules for dress.

At least he did at Jackson State.

"No wife beaters" he told them. Can you imagine if Ferentz or Rhule said that?

There were other rules as well. No slides, couldn't where cutoff shirts, can't remember them all.

Yet he shows up in a hoodie up and sunglasses?

LMAO.

It's all about him, always has been.

I don't go in for his flashiness, but as Rhule says, the dude is a football guy. Pelini spoke to his hard practice habits. Very much like Magic - big personality, great talent and a willingness to work hard.

The "Nebraska CU rivalry" feels an awful lot like the "Duke Maryland rivalry" in MBB... Duke has dominated the series, Maryland had a little run in the early 2000s in which some of their games had national implications... Maryland fans feel like Duke is a rival while Duke fans only believe NC to be their rival... The series is no longer played as they are in separate conferences... Myself personally, felt like the Colorado game was nothing more than the Black Friday consolation game after OU walked away from the annual matchup.... Some exciting games for a stretch but never felt the same as playing Oklahoma...

If you haven't, check out Whitlock's article on Deion's presser. It's a good read.

The lopsided Nebraska v CU rivalry is a bit like the Notre Dame v Navy rivalry. Except that ND keeps scheduling and pummeling Navy to "honor them" for keeping ND from needing to take out a loan in 1942.

Yeah, nothing like that. LOL. We're in the same conference and the game often determined who was conference champ or played for the championship. Two programs 7 hours away. Yeah, probably has nothing in common with Notre Dame and Navy.

It's personal and not in the way Prime thinks! The Barfalo fans have always been complete AH, the way they treated Husker fans, over the years, specifically in Boulder! Whether at football or basketball games! Barfalo fans only got really offended when someone made a dumb comment about QB Sal Aunese back around 1990, who passed away in 1989, from stomach cancer.

I meant that it is dominated by one program. Usually, when one side wins that much, it is no longer considered as a "rivalry".

Scavenger is a Colorado fan, so it’s easy to see how he would get his knickers in a twist over your largely accurate comparison. It’s true that Colorado made some noise in the late 80s/early 90s, but that’s the extent of it.

What has been happening in recent memory has been nothing more than huge pillow fights.

Your team had 2 very short waves against Nebraska that were blips on a radar.
The games have actually been quite competitive since the mid 80's. 17 of the last 27 games decided by 10 points or less. Several decided in the waning moments of the game or OT. That's what tends to make games rivalries. Games that are hard fought and exciting along with being meaningful. As for ancient history, this century, the games have been .500. If you're 70 years old, I guess that doesn't mean much. For the rest, I'm guessing it does.

We don't have a real rival anymore. We really got dealt worse hands over time after OU. First CU - the manufactured "rival', then Iowa, who has never won anything. Only people who live around the state line have strong feelings about it from what I can tell. Snooze.

agree.. the quality of our rivals has declined in lockstep with our performance over the years.. we used to be in elite company.. now it's clinging on to (dare I say) mid tier?
