Ironically, the school is named after the founder with a subsidiary named... Russell Athletic.

I somewhat expect our lawyers will go hard after this, but it's sorta flattering. I hope they get to keep it.

Our lawyers are idiots if we do anything more than charge them a $1 license

There's a big Adidas logo on those uni's, so I assume the blessing has already been given.

You're assuming Adidas is making HS jerseys. Growing up, our jerseys were monogrammed by the local sporting goods store. They just bought the "blank" jerseys in a specific color and design and the sporting goods store did the customizing.

Wasn’t there a college that had a stink with Kossuth high school over a uni/logo a decade or so back? It wasn’t aTm was it? Seems I remember reading about it in the TDJ but can’t remember details. Seemed awful petty whatever it was.

Yep. Russell is an Adidas school.

Russell Athletic, by the way, got out of the uniform business about four years ago.

Retarded. That makes more sense though. I knew during the CWS a friend from Kossuth had messenged me say even people there that didn’t like State was rooting for us. I thought they were referencing the uniform/logo deal but couldn’t square that in my mind with the aggies.

I think it’s a pretty good assumption that adidas made those high school jerseys.

The school gets them from a middle man like BSN (except they don’t carry adidas). That company gets them directly from adidas. If they’re custom jerseys, which they are, adidas makes them for the company, who then gets them to the school

The school I am coaching at started using a very familiar SEC logo a few years ago and got a cease and desist letter.

Yes, but the college was Iowa and the high school was Southern Miss.***

There’s a ton of high schools that use college and pro logos. Hernando High uses the Mizzou Tigers logo.

A few years back the Vicksburg High Gators put a big gator head in their basketball court resembling the Florida gator. From what I recall, the lawyers came swooping in and asked them to stop using their logo.
I doubt very seriously lawyers have gotten less pissy since then.

Several years ago in Austin I saw a high school kid wearing a maroon sweatshirt with the MS baseball logo on it which of course caught my attention. When I got close enough to read the shirt, it was from St. Michael's Catholic school in Austin. I looked on their website and they clearly were using it on all their stuff. I contacted the university branding people and sent them the links. I never heard back, but it seems that St. Michael's has developed their own logo since then.

It's weird seeing it on football helmets.

Hattiesburg used to have helmets (may still) that very much mimicked LSU with the yellow helmets and a tiger on the side. Only difference was HHS was in place of LSU.

It looks a lot better on a baseball cap than on a football helmet. We're good with what we've got now.

I didn't like the M-State logo either for a long time, but I realized it's not going to change and that if you look at 90% of other college football helmets, they're all pretty boring too, it started to grow on me. I've been OK with it for a several years now.

There is an "Arkansas High School" that's their real name, not where they're from. And their mascot is a Razorback. I think I heard one of their coaches tell me at a track meet that they were created/authorized by U of Ark to do that.

I hate this crap. The high school isn't costing anything. If they were making money (real money) for doing something nefarious then I could understand. These are kids who have to feel great wearing this stuff. I always knew Flariduh folks were touchy buy damn.

I would say more but I'm afraid one of those dickheads would send me a cease and desist.

Yeah, Texarkana high on the Arkansas side is the Razorbacks (Arkansas HS) and Texarkana on the Texas side (Texas HS) has a burnt orange and white color scheme. So it's almost like the Razorbacks vs. Longhorns on the high school level and the schools are only separated by the state line.
