It's every bit on Cal.He chose to depend on freshmen every season instead of focusing on building a roster with experience.
Hasn’t that succeeded every year? I was okay with Cal going after the best of the best even if we only have them for a year. The college basketball landscape has changed so Cal must adapt I will admit that.

Don’t necessarily disagree but this also let’s Cal off the hook for what has seemed to be his fundamental flaw. You cannot rely on his version of OAD system it’s not consistently a long term solution anymore. Has to be a mix.

Not on Cal? Horse apples , of course it’s on him, he is the head basketball coach of this team, nobody else and HE is ultimately responsible for everything that happens on the court.

Best post of the night.

Everyone has theories but the bottom line is this class sucks. You can blame Cal, but he got the best players, unfortunately the best this year is awful.
He got the best? I just watched the best come on the same channel right after our game.

I’m off the board for awhile. This has gotten crazy. Decent posters losing their marbles, lol. See y’all in a couple months. Hopefully, we are watching a “door” somewhere. Y’all take care. Kentucky basketball wasn’t meant to come to this. It’s much more meaningful and powerful. We will be back. Hopefully I’m with the crowd. GBB.

Some of it's definitely on the players, but ultimately it's Coach Cal who put this roster together. Covid has also played a role, but it's the same role it's played for everyone else. Difference is Kentucky's success is built up having Freshmen drive it whereas other programs use a more experience based model for theirs.

Cal created it.
Cal continues to force it.
Cal continues to get paid higher than ANY other coach in the country.
Cal refuses to alter it.
Cal uses excuses for his shortcomings at a school he said uses "no excuses".

But, you are right, this is MOSTLY on Cal, but not ALL. However, it's not the players, it's partly on Mitch Barnhart for giving Cal a LIFETIME contract!!!

I bet Ellen doesn't make as many excuses for Cal as some of his fans on this board do.Pathetic.

This is about the talent not panning out.

I think it’s insane to want Cal gone but that’s just me. I don’t agree with many things he’s said and how he’s acted this season at times but he should be allowed to have a redemption year after what he’s given to the program
So the man makes $25k A DAY, has recruited all the players on HIS roster, refuses to play a modern offense and chooses to not play shooter but your right...it’s not on him. Dumbest post I’ve read on here in a long time and that’s saying a lot.

The coach is going to bear some responsibility for being 5-11 with the #1 recruiting class and all-ACC transfer every time.

he gets paid well to build a team and he has failed miserably

So you're saying Cals annual gamble on freshmen classes blew up in our faces?

Every school in the nation.

Every school in the Nation? No lol. That’s not true at all so why say something so absurd?

Most of the schools who recruited the same guys recruited them to go along with very serviceable veterans. Cal recruited them to go along with brooks who was god awful his freshman year and barely played.

Big difference

Who decided it was a good idea to have a brand new team of 2nd tier 5 stars and 4 stars every single year? Next year will he different right?

He didn’t get the best players though. The best players went elsewhere. Cal can’t land the elites of the elite anymore.

Question- what offense does Cal run? Specifically what offense was ran tonight? Which offensive schemes and sets stood out to you? If you had to describe Cals offense this season and the last 2 seasons, how would you describe it? Specifically.
