MORGANTOWN — A man who pleaded guilty to a Blacksville robbery will head to treatment instead of prison.
John Cooke Jr. previously pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery and grand larceny. He robbed one customer in the parking lot of the Blacksville 7-Eleven. He then robbed the convenience store inside, each while brandishing pellet guns.
He then took the parking lot customer’s vehicle and fled the scene.
On Feb. 10, Monongalia County Circuit Court Judge Russell Clawges sentenced Cooke to five to 18 years in prison for second-degree robbery and one to 10 years for grand larceny. He ordered that the sentences run back-to-back, but suspended it.
Cooke will head to an 18-month residency and treatment program for substance abuse outside of Charleston
