The Rev. Al Sharpton believes Jussie Smollett should face “accountability to the maximum” — if it’s found that he made up the hate attack against him.
Sharpton is no stranger to racially charged hoax cases. In the late 1980s, the then-firebrand local political activist served as the spokesman for Tawana Brawley, a black 15-year-old who claimed she had been raped by six white men upstate. They scrawled racial epithets on her chest and smeared feces in her hair, she alleged.
The case was found to be a total fabrication.

Wait....are you outraged that he thinks he should face severe scrutiny for faking it? Or are you outraged that he came out and said the very thing you called on him to say and made you wear egg on your face?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tweeted that the “racist, homophobic attack” against Smollett is “an affront to our humanity.”

“It doesn’t get worse, as far as I’m concerned,” Trump said of the attack during an Oval Office exchange with the White House press pool on Thursday.

Thanks....glad you posted it. I guess Trump must have missed the "modern day lynching" talking point when he made his comments about the case.

His comments are pretty tame compared to the others. I mean the dems love the term gaslighting and dog whistle and calling it a modern day lynching would be aling those lines.

The sad thing is that the press pushed this story as fact,not alleged, from the beginning.
I never bought his his story.
Two white guys in MAGA hats in Chicago ...
Who knew Smollett ...And just happened to be out at 2:00 a.m. with a minus 30º windchill ...
Carrying a noose and bleach just in case they ran into Smollett ...So they could perform an act of racism and homophobia?
Had that camera been pointing in the other direction, the lie would have gone much further.

I said last week, the whole noose thing was a red flag. Did I actually suspect he planned the attack as a hoax? lol. Nope. I assumed he just got his *** kicked and tried to turn it into what he claimed.

Dude is trash. His punishment should be severe.

“When the letter didn’t get enough attention, he concocted the staged attack,” a source told CBS 2 Investigator Brad Edwards. Other sources corroborated that information.

Don’t know what investigation will show but there’s a possibility he feared he was going to be cut from the Show. Theory is attack may have been staged. Readers should wait to see what comes out of the interrogations of the two suspects they have.

Let's humor him for a minute and say it was a genuine, threatening, racist letter from a racist, violent person. That still doesn't condone this psycho faking a crime and tying up resources. How do you go from receiving a letter to faking a f'n hate crime? This isn't some interpretive theater class. :joy::joy:

Yeah. I agree. Unless assumed violent homophobe sent the letter directly to him I am not even sure how he would know about it and if a racist homophobe were going to go after someone on that show there are several more famous targets. And of course his reaction is ridiculous.
