I think the players and coaches are working hard, but while saying that is nice, it's like saying a girl has "a great personality"...it just misses the point of the whole thing.

I went to watch XU vs. Seton Hall tonight.

A packed 10k seat arena with cold beer, and 2 damn good teams

Real basketball is alive, just not at MState.

I can out-shoot most of our players from the perimeter, and I haven't played any basketball in 21 years. Give me an hour to warm up.

I've said it

since the 2nd game, that this is a terrible shooting team, despite what one poster thinks.

I don't know, I think our shooting isn't any worse than our defense, turnover to assist ratio or free throw shooting. What I have seen is an all around ****** team. We've might havereplaced a dumpster fire, but we turned right around and made ourselves the laughing stock of the SEC.

If we keep saying firing Rick Stansbury was the right decision then there is a significant percentage who will begin to believe it. A low down sleezy politician once said something similar about Obamacare.

Theres no up side to getting rid of RR at this point and if Stricklin did, I would expect one of the assistants would take over and no way they could improve the talent level on this team. Hard to blame Ray but he is the head coach and making the $1m per year so it does fall on his shoulders. Even with a full roster there's hasn't been any improvement from the first 2 years. Shooting is pathetic, no rebounding, big men can't dunk the list goes on and on. Personally wanted him to succeed but as someone stated he may be in over his head so unfortunately we're going to suffer for the rest of this year and probably a couple more should a new coach take over. A change has to be made for next year.

What always seems to be lost in the Stansbury debate is how unlikely it is that we will match his level of success, even if we make good coaching hires who recruit well and are generally considered a success at this school. The next coach may do very well and compare favorably to Ray, but its highly unlikely that he'll match Stansbury.

This is all Renardo Sidney's fault and I'm not even kidding.

If Stansbury never signs (or buys, or whatever) Sidney, then he's probably still the coach here. We are probably still winning 18-20 games a year, and we likely have a shot at signing Newman.

Rick Ray = Sly Croom

It's stunning to watch. We might not win a conference game.

That display last night was just so horribly painful to watch. It just so reminded me of the same 'pain' in the pit of my stomach I got watching Croom's offense.

Croom's offenses were simply inept .. which he blamed on lack of 'execution.' Ray's teams lack simple BB fundamentals. They can't defend ... they can't shoot ... they can't protect the ball ... and they can't shoot FTs.

Last night was our best chance to win a conference game. 2nd worst team in the conference, at home, and we lost by 14. It's time for a change.

Missouri is worse than UT but UT may end up 12th. If they get some breaks, maybe 10th or so.

It's hard to argue with that. Stansbury had unbelievable success his first 7 years in the program and then tapered off.

To me, if you aren't making the tournament - regardless of how the other SEC teams are doing - it's a bad season. That's the measuring stick. If you are 1 game away or 15 - over the course of time - that's how I judge our basketball program.

Defense in first half was actually really good. With any offense at all we should have been up by 10 or more at the half.

To me this teams sucking has nothing to do with firing Stans - he needed to go, just like Polk (who was also the winningest coach in program history). It has everything to do with making the right hire after you fire him - and in Ray we didn't, where as Cohen seems to be. It reminds me of firing Jackie and hiring crooms. Hopefully we hire a Dan next.

A major problem is it should be not turning out as ALL had hoped. Anyone who claims to be an MSU fan should always hope for the best out of our programs.

This is a good point. Kind of like the Diaz/Collins discussion. We will to get back to RS level of success with our next hire.

A lot of people here kind of forget how good Diaz was. Whether it was talent or coaching. Collins appeared good because of how bad Wilson was but we still never got back to as good as we were under Diaz.

If we are a NIT program - which is what we were under Stansbury the last 6-7 years - then why even play?

If your program's consistent results are NIT seasons or less - then you keep making a change until you get to the NCAA level.

I hope and pray Rick Ray is that is coach but it's pretty apparent right now - he isn't. I am unsure if he gets or deserves another year.

I just disagree with the 'If NIT, then why'? mentality. Hell, I would MUCH rather have Rick Stansbury era basketball than Rick Ray or Boyd era basketball. We are going to have a program, might as well be somewhat competitive.

Also, we made the NCAAT in 2 out his last 5 years. Yes, I know one was due to a SECT win but we also got screwed the next year when we finished 24-12.

So basically - you are happy if Andy Kennedy is our coach if you take out the international incident?

YES! Because I knew that failure at MSU is always a VERY real possibility

I NEVER believed that we were the all mighty and powerful and could sustain our excellence. Hell, I watched Bob Boyd. I watched the ebbs and flows of Richard Williams. I knew we could go to obscurity VERY quickly... AK has done well enough at OM to keep his job. He should have lost his job due to the incident. Also, he couldn't hold RS's jock strap. They aren't even on the same field.

I raise you 6/11, Coach34**

was just illustrating that 2 out of 5 doesn't sound nearly as desperate as 2 out of 7. Especially when barring the complete implosion we had in 2012, we were definitely in. I mean, holy ****... we were freaking 19-5 before the fuse was lit...
