If this didn't include the first half of the Oregon game, the OSU and Wisconsin games, we would be much better.

Is this a serious post or am I missing the sarcasm? Of course that's the case. That's anybody's case. Let everybody take away 2 and a half games of the season. Hell, why not just take out the whole season...we're still undefeated!!

At least our 4th down defense is great! Too bad everyone scores on us in 3 downs or less.

Yeah, I think we're all ready for our slide to mediocrity to end. That is if the goal is to be "relevant" again--and it really wasn't as much as it was to be "respectable". Hence, the MR hire imo.

Wow, so on paper Purdue is a better team. Hopefully this will help remove the denial of some.

Not meant to derail the thread but..

Did Eichorst put any effort in to the hiring process? I mean did he take several interviews? Were there any other serious candidates?

Or was he set on Riley from the moment he knew he was interested?

I was confused about the hire then and still am to this day.

No, it is not serious, it is PURE sarcasm. People like to pick and chose and were making it look like our D was getting better since the first half of Oregon which we know is not the case.

I don't know how many people talked about our D flipping a switch at the halftime of the Oregon game and then "proving" it by their performances against Rutgers and Illinois. It was close to the craziest thing that has been posted here. The Diaco love has just been nutty.

Scheme problem for JP. For everyone else it’s just poor coaching. We get it.

Maybe I missed it...but where are all the poor coaching posts in regards to Trent Bray/Scott Booker/Donte Williams? It seems as if the only people that bring up Parrella are the ones that think it's a big no no to hire former Huskers in any capacity. Mind you, for the most part they are the same people that have defended Riley ad nauseam. Of course, Riley was also the person responsible for hiring Parrella. If that was a bad hire, just tack on another failure on the uber experienced coach's belt.

Some people have Parellaitis, aka hater mentality. The way some of them talk, you’d think they could do a better job. John, I would assume, would tell you he needs to do better and get the defensive line improved. I don’t have an axe to grind on a personal level with any of the current staff, but we all see that this year has been terrible. Some here just seem to know more about coaching and single out the whipping boy on their own list, and Parella is high on a few posters agenda.

It was wishful thinking even though Oregon got vanilla and Rutgers and Ill had bad offense the Defense did improve - and even played well for a half against WI u til the badgers stole their mojo

Oregon didn't take their foot off the gas. Our defense morphed into a top 10 defense at halftime.RollingLaugh

The stat sheet comparison. The national rank numbers are sickening. This explains tons!!

Is anybody starting to worry about that penn state running back yet ? With the soft defense we play that will just give him a running start. I could see another Melvin Gordon type 400 yard game from him unless they take him out to rest him.

As I recall we beat Kansas state when they had Darren Sprolls. We did it by getting to him early before he had a chance to use his spend and quickness. Not going to be able to do that playing a bend, don't break defense.
