The San Francisco Giants announced that games at Oracle Park will be played without fans due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the team will allow season-ticket holders to send in an image of themselves to be placed onto a cutout that will be displayed in the stands during home games.

Calling it the Giants Fan Cutout Program, the team said the cutouts will be an opportunity for fans to "be at Oracle Park even when you're home watching the game."

The cutouts will be made of weatherproof material and will be placed as close to the season-ticket holders' seats as possible, according to the Giants. For a $99 fee, the team is also giving the option for non-season-ticket holders to have their cutout images displayed in the stands.

I actually like the idea. I'd pay $100 for my family's likeness to be at Nats park for 30 games this year.

Do the season ticket holders get a refund? That is just dumb. I bet a lot of people do that.

I wonder if you can buy cardboard cutouts of beer and hotdogs too to go with your big goofy head.

I have full season tickets to the DBacks. We were offered a full refund OR the option to transfer to next season...doing so gives us 10% credit to use for merchandise, food, drink and other games and is spendable immediately. I chose this option because baseball will be back and we get an additional $1-2k and no invoices until 2022.

I read somewhere that the Texas teams were looking at going at 50% capacity for the season.

presumption I’ve been told is no fans at MLB until Sept if at all - college football will work harder on a fan option, but NFL is less dependent on gate than college teams are so we’ll see - it is harder planning trips back East for WVU and Steeler weekends with flights being harder to cancel

Why not set up a remote control camera in your season ticket seat and you can watch the game from your seat.....and no one telling you to sit down etc.

MLB is a dead man walking. It used to be my favorite sport for the first half of my life. Somewhere along the way they lost me and I can't put my finger on it.
