I think it's a pretty good "tell" personally. These coaches are paid to win football games, they need recruits, that toothpaste ran out of the tube a long time ago. Not everyone can be a Scott Frost...Some programs have to do a lot sleezier stuff to stay competitive and or win big.
These coaches better be darn careful in today's day you can lose a job pretty quick saying stupid stuff
I see the logic in his comment somewhat. If you are an average looking man and married a very attractive looking girl, odds are you won here over because you are a good talker. To be a good recruiter you need to be a people person and a good talker.
However that theory is also flawed. Many of these assistant are making very good money as well as being in the spot light. We all know what follows money and power.......

If you look at MOST college coaches- they really starve
They make NOTHING as GAs- not really enough to even survive
Small College jobs- pay less than High School jobs
High School jobs- stipends are nothing and young teachers dont make a lot- if they come from the HS ranks
Guaranteed- Held was making starvation wages in the Junior College ranks
Even Scott Frosts assistants werent making a bundle at CFU
Yes, once they make it, they are making good scratch- but that usually takes most of them quite awhile- if you dont have a name like Kiffin.
