Could be Wheeler from UGa, also. was fifth nationally in assists this past season

Yes brother, led the SEC by quite a margin, and 5th overall in the nation. He averaged like 7.5 a game. Pippen is more high profile and high ceiling no doubt, but for the people disappointed it's Wheeler, this kinda guy could definitely help UK next year. Very good passer and floor vision.
Averaged 7.4 assists, but also averaged 4.4 turnovers.
Wheeler is fine as long as you have shooters on the court with him. He can get them the ball.

Pippen not in portal so has to be Wheeler. He’s not the one I was hoping for.
Your PG still has to be respectable from the outside, regardless what’s around him IMO. A non shooting PG hurts the entire offense. It also kills spacing.
Something must have broken down if we are seriously looking at this guy. Not saying he is terrible, but there were two other targets that I’ve felt good about that would be better players; and I heard we were in good standing and staff felt good about landing one of those two. So maybe this is just a reach out for backup situation? I hope. But if it’s actually serious, something has broken down somewhere last couple days.
Just because we "reached out" doesn't mean he got a scholarship offer. There's a lot of Arizona buzz with Tyty right now and I'm starting to think we're eliminated there, so it makes sense to contact a few guys. If anything as backup options. I read something the other day about Wheeler possibly wanting to be closer to his hometown of Houston anyway.

kinda has a push shot. Very quick off the dribble but those shooting numbers are no bueno

I mentioned DeVante Jones earlier but I didn't realize he was weighing pro options before potentially transferring. Apparently Juwan Howard met with him today.
It’s Wheeler but I think Cal’s just covering his butt & giving himself lots of options. Wheeler would still be better than nothing and if it comes to that, Cal doesn’t want to contact him for the first time AFTER all his other options fall through. Just my opinion.
