Flood HAD to know arrest day was coming!
Players knew this was coming.
Why was Flood preparing kids to play he had to know were going to get arrested?

This is what has me bugged

I know you can't babysit 105 kids....but if flood did not know this was going on...or someone did not alert him to such, then something is wrong. Too disconnected in the lockerroom

I hope this is case, but I don't want to think about the possibility that he might have known

Just stop. The police didn't call to tell us they were arresting the players or we certainly would've driven them to the station.

He had to know. There had to be whispers and he always claims he has great relations with area PD. I am hearing this is not the end only the tip. There will be more.

Flood probably had no clue, this isn't Crappy Valley, the HC doesn't run the town.

And what makes you think that Flood knew about all of this? Come on, use your head guy. Why would he spend all summer preparing these guys for the two deep if he knew they were being investigated for this crap?

Did he know? When I saw his post practice interview yesterday he alluded to 10 players being suspended as hangover from Spring. I had no idea what he was talking about. Was this it? Check it out at about the 1 minute mark.

What if:

Investigator: Coach, the 4 kids on your current team and 2 former players are being investigated.
Coach: For what
IN: Armed robbery
C: Definitive?
IN: At this point it is an investigation
C: Who? Could they be arrested?
IN: We cannot say who as we are investigating, but yes, they can be arrested.
C: When?
IN: When our investigation is complete.
C: When will that be?
IN: We don't know yet.
C: Is it possible that the investigation does not turn up anything?
IN: Yes
C: What is likelihood of that?
IN: We cannot say. There is an investigation.
C: Is there a chance they could be cleared?
IN: Yes, if our investigation concludes as such.

It is August 1. You are Coach. What do you do for preparations and practice?

If Flood knew anything, it may be along the lines above. Today, we are all Thursday afternoon quarterbacks, but on August 1, we knew a lot less. Decide.

Oh. I have been so busy reading about the email scandal and our team, I haven't read anything about Norfolk State. I guess that I didn't take them seriously. Now we may have to! This game has turned into the "Suspended Bowl" for both teams. Is this our bowl game for this year? I sure hope not!

Being a CEO is a far cry from a position coach.

Micromanaging is too often said as a bad thing re a head coach. Not sure how you have a successful one who doesn't Saban and Meyer always struck me as prototypical micro managers, and that that trait, while perhaps not making them beloved by all or a good father, friend or spouse, makes them a hell of a CEO and head fbcoach.

Had Flood been a micromanager would he have heard or known of this brewing? I think by and large he's been shown to be a good man. Being the CEO has always been an area of concern, although it did appear he was growing into it somewhat.

Not trying to be a dick here, but don't be that guy. If you have information either share it or don't say anything. There is no point in saying you know something but I can't tell you other than looking g for attention. Your post just screams "look at me!"

Was not the intention. All I was saying was don't be surprised if there is more to come. I hope and pray that this is it. I hate reading about these things.

Zap, you are smarter than this. No coach in America is going to give half of his defensive backfield the starting nods and associated reps in preseason knowing he is about to lose them.

Said it in another thread. This ain't Tuscaloosa. Flood may have a relationship with the PD, but I guarantee you he didn't know about this investigation or he would not have put them in the position they are in, including reaching out to Barnwell's part time teacher.

It is ridiculous to think otherwise.

You say this is only the tip. What's next the entire OL. Then the DL. I mean our entire secondary is just about gone. Only the tip, 5 guys were arrested, what's this mean we can expect about 10 to 15 more?

Just spoke to my buddy. He doesn't think it will lead to more arrests although it could. The "tip" seemed to refer to the gravity of the crimes by a couple of the individuals. He said people do not usually break into the crime game by robbing drug dealers.

Well, the bright side is that Flood now has stain...since he just was shat upon. Barnwell, my God.

May feel bad for Barnwell's parents. Seems like they may have known their kid is trouble and did not want to see Flood embroiled in issues involving him from the article on the email issue.

At least we won't be losing the OL and DL this year. Well I guess we still might according to your buddy.

kupuna133 sounds pretty credible to me. Again he said that this is not definitive information but an indication of the seriousness of the situation, possibly for the players that have already been arrested. No reason to shoot the messenger here. He is giving us the opportunity to gain a greater perspective on the existing situation. I, for one, appreciate that input. No reason to be reactionary at this point.

The scope is past and present players, players talk. Every team Ive ever played on from grade school to pros, we all knew who was up to no good. I find it hard to believe, Flood or a staff member had no wind of this, it was on going.
My opinion

So what your saying is Flood's incompetent and let this behavior transpire. If that's the case which I find hard to believe then he needs to be let go before he does anymore damage. This is one hell of a Jekyll and Hyde act. Hell he should be considered for an Oscar. Had me fooled
