Im sure he wasn't very good at his job anyways so no big loss.
No Secretary of the Army. No permanent Army Chief of Staff — Hegseth fired Gen. Randy George in April with no explanation.
And we’re in the middle of a war and perhaps the biggest transformation in land warfare in generations.
So who exactly is running the Army?
The serious people keep leaving or getting fired.
Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth is giving political stump speeches in Iowa and bringing internet trolls into the Pentagon.
This isn’t serious leadership. It’s chaos, and America is much weaker for it.
while I normally ignore these kinds of posts from people who have no idea of what they are talking about..have never served, never been in the Pentagon..and have no idea of military culture (I apologize up front if there are posters on this thread who have), but in this instance, while I don't agree with the "no yes men, coup, revolution" and other seemingly unknowing posts, I have to admit that the underlying question "who's running the Army?" is a valid one.

To be clear, given that the Army is built for war fighting and that there are casualties, a next leader up mentality exists, so someone has stepped into the leadership role, be it the undersecretary or deputy chief of staff. But, when you get into a situation where the senior civilian and senior military position are both vacant that sort of gives an indication that something is wrong.
Admittedly, unlike some who appear, or think, they know exactly what's happening, I don't have any inside information, and while I know that the system still functions, it has to be unsettling for the rank and file especially in the middle of this "war". I don't know if Hegseth is the reason, but he's the man in charge, and he's responsible for everything his unit does or fails to do.

I'd prefer to see them (and many others connected with this rogue administration) in jail.I'm not going to be sad if Trump and/or Kegseth eat a bullet.
Unbelievable.
Too expensive.I'd prefer to see them (and many others connected with this rogue administration) in jail.
Everything Hegseth does screams incompetence and toadyism. Maybe not the only reason but definitely a big reason.I don't know if Hegseth is the reason, but he's the man in charge, and he's responsible for everything his unit does or fails to do.
Exile them. Drop them somewhere in Iran.Too expensive.
HegsethWho is supposed be voted out and when?
This is getting tiresome.I normally ignore these kinds of posts from people who have no idea of what they are talking about..have never served, never been in the Pentagon..and have no idea of military culture....
Republicans. Midterms soon. Presidential election after that.Who is supposed be voted out and when?
oftentimes folks in cabinet positions leave after 2 years so they can capitalize on their knowledge of the system and the people in it. Hegseth has a brood of kids and a net worth of "only" $3million or so. It wouldn't surprise me to see him as one of those who bolt for higher paying positions in the defense or think tank industriesEverything Hegseth does screams incompetence and toadyism. Maybe not the only reason but definitely a big reason.
He should be impeached and removed from office at the very least. I don't know if he has actually committed crimes or treason - I suspect so - but I bet he asks for a pardon from Trump if he's stripped of his office.
the most interesting part of your post is that you have not refuted any of the "stale" knowledge that you so eagerly discount. And if what I post is already known to reasonably informed people than what I have posted is accurate as "reasonably informed people" are aware. or, the other side of that is that is if I am a wrong than why would the reasonably informed people already know it....This is getting tiresome.
In exactly what ways does your stale knowledge from decades-old service make you more expert than those of us who pay attention and do the research? Nothing you have said so far about how the military functions is unknown to reasonably-informed people.
Maybe you do have insights we could all benefit from hearing. If so, give us those - instead of disparaging those with no direct experience.
In an ideal world he would have to be capable of cogent thought to get one of those roles. But we live in an era of cronyism, so he will undoubtedly make out like a bandit.oftentimes folks in cabinet positions leave after 2 years so they can capitalize on their knowledge of the system and the people in it. Still truly shocked anytime a grown man parrots these incredibly juvenile and stupid terms. What are the Panicans panicing about today?
You think Iran is laughing as it runs out of money? Predictably low-IQ on your part.Only "Yes" men allowed.
Even "Yes" women are purged.
Meanwhile, Iran is laughing as they control the Strait of Hormuz.
my guess is the opposite. he is dumb as rocks (unbelievable that he went to princeton) and a pretty face actor who plays a role on the stage. the director and scriptwriter are operating without screen creditI’m guessing the bartender in the pentagon has an unfortunately disproportionate amount of influence on any decisions being made
I don't think any reasonable person would disagree with you. I don't know the reason for Driscoll's resignation, it was my understanding that he was well thought of by Trump and by Army officials. In fact, at one point it was rumored that he might be in line for the SecDef position if Hegseth left. The part of all this that I REALLY don't like is getting rid of people who don't agree with you at high levels of government. I don't have a problem with firing folks that don't do their jobs, but a person that's doing their job and you just don't like them? That's a bad move. Trump also seems to like having "Interim" people running things. Ever been an interim person? Your job isn't really to be the guy running things, but to keep things running until the job is filled. There's a difference there. AND in this case you are serving at Trump's whim. He has total control, which is what he likes.
The problem is that when you are running the country like this and by using executive orders for everything, is that the next guy ESPECIALLY if he's from another party, is going to undo everything you've done. You can bet your ***, if there's a Dem elected in 2028, the 1st thing they are going to do is to undo everything Trump did by executive order and purge all the folks Trump hired. That's a lot of effort and wasted time everytime we have a different POTUS and then time on top of THAT while the new people learn their jobs. That's no way to run a railroad...
Right, the military bureaucracy was functioning at a high level before Hegseth had the crazy idea to try to make it more efficient. What was he thinking? Everything was great as it was. Just ask defense industry reps like Lloyd Austin if you don't believe it.Everything Hegseth does screams incompetence and toadyism. Maybe not the only reason but definitely a big reason.
Right, Lloyd Austin even left early, disappearing for a weak. He is now back in his lucrative role as an industry rep, no longer having to pretend to be the sec of defense. The grown ups left the White House a long time ago. But the grown ups leaving the military makes me much more nervous.

"We're not in a cult, you're in a cult."Still truly shocked anytime a grown man parrots these incredibly juvenile and stupid terms.
Boomers can't go away fast enough
No I didn't. Why? Because, as I said, you don't seem to have added anything that otherwise well-informed people didn't already know, or couldn't figure out for themselves.the most interesting part of your post is that you have not refuted any of the "stale" knowledge that you so eagerly discount.
Yeah, I sort of agree. But imagine you get elected President and you inherit all these corrupt MAGA types who are gung-ho polluting the planet and starting criminal wars and degrading the safety net, and so on. I don't now about you, but I'm definitely going to dump those guys if I can.The part of all this that I REALLY don't like is getting rid of people who don't agree with you at high levels of government.
You really didn’t need the first two paragraphs. Just say you don’t know.while I normally ignore these kinds of posts from people who have no idea of what they are talking about..have never served, never been in the Pentagon..and have no idea of military culture (I apologize up front if there are posters on this thread who have), but in this instance, while I don't agree with the "no yes men, coup, revolution" and other seemingly unknowing posts, I have to admit that the underlying question "who's running the Army?" is a valid one.

Trump only hires the best. Until they don’t do what he says, thin it’s he’s not good at his job or I didn’t know him at all. ICould very well be right,... Why would you assume that he was good at his job?...
